Please consider Fostering - if not you, then who? FOSTERING FOUND KITTY - Creating a Safe Haven I have over 10 indoor cats and I always bring a new stray cat into my bathroom where it’s safe and contained - and it does NOT interfere with my resident cats in any way: 😻When you rescue a cat from the street, you are often their last hope for survival. Because many cats brought to shelters never leave, fostering them in your home is the greatest gift you can give while searching for their guardian or a new forever home. 😻The Bathroom: The Perfect Starting Point Don’t worry if your bathroom is tiny; cats actually prefer small, contained spaces when they are overwhelmed by a new environment. Keeping kitty in the bathroom ensures they are safe, easy to monitor, and away from the stresses of the rest of the house. 😻Setting Up the "Bedroom" Inside the bathroom, provide a litter box, food, and water. For their bed, a covered hard carrier is the most ideal setup. 😻The Setup: Place a soft blanket inside the carrier and drape another blanket over the top, leaving only the front opening clear. 😻The Strategy: By making the carrier the only "hiding spot" in the room, the cat will learn to view it as their safe zone. This makes it much easier to transport them to the vet for a microchip scan or to their new home later on—they’ll already be comfortable inside! 😻Acclimation and Trust: I always keep new rescues in the bathroom for at least a few weeks until they are fully acclimated and ready to explore. Even spending just 30 minutes a day with them makes a world of difference. It helps them feel safe, allows you to get to know their personality, and ensures they are ready for the next chapter of their life. 😻 Thank you for opening your heart and home to a cat in need. You are changing a life that someone else may have failed. ❤️.❤️

🐱💜Dear kind compassionate neighbor. I ADORE people like you who look out for the often ignored lost/stray roaming kitty. Thank you for helping to save this kitty’s life! ((Cats that haven’t eaten for days and barely eaten for weeks will still ‘APPEAR’ OK - fur is very deceiving and it takes a long time for cats to look malnourished.)) I pray you will continue to provide Wet food and water. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.🐱💜We are often a cat’s last hope after another human failed them. ((place wet food in a bowl - then place that bowl inside larger bowl or on a plate and add water to the outer bowl/pate - in order to prevent ANTS from crossing over and swarming the food)) 🐱 Lost cats REMAIN very near their last residence …Unfortunately many kitty guardians give up WAY TOO SOON on the search assuming kitty is never coming back or deceased (not realizing how close they remain and/or sometimes they're trapped in a garage etc) Kitty could belong to an elderly person who lives alone and doesn't use the internet or know how to find kitty (or can't physically get around well). Or kitty's guardian could have or was hospitalized. And sadly, MANY cats are born in backyards due to guardians who aren’t fixing their own cats that they allow outside. AND MANY sweet cats get ABANDONED (yes happens all the time)….and they need our help 🙏 🐱 MOST (if not all) of the neighbors that live on your block - will NOT see any of these posts on pawboost, nextdoor or facebook. So Informing your neighbors in person is KEY. The neighbors around your block and across the street are exactly who need to be informed via FLYERS and/or knocking on doors and asking. THE BEST THING TO DO To find out if kitty has a guardian: Get kitty into your bathroom where it's safe and contained and Knock on your neighbors doors..someone might know where kitty lives .. Food bowl water bowl, litter box and blanket or ideally a covered carrier can be used as a little hideaway for kitty - or even a cardboard box turned to it’s side and partially covered and blanket/towel inside :) 🐱💜 SCAN KITTY FOR MICROCHIP: Try winning kitty’s trust with food and pets and gently Get kitty safely inside a SECURE cat carrier and get kitty scanned for a microchip at any vet (Free) or shelter (Free) hopefully kitty has a microchip with guardian’s up to date contact information. TIP: Always Cover the cat carrier with a blanket once kitty is inside and during travel it will help calm them. 📌 HOW TO GET A CAT INSIDE A CARRIER (Butt-first) 🐱https://youtu.be/7hk-Mq9nw6U (I made this video to show you how) Place hard open carrier behind the kitty and give kitty treats or food in front of kitty ,gently pull kitty’s shoulders and body BACK toward the opening…very gently! Kitty will pause then walk backwards into the carrier! 👏🏼 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l5eJVen9SC9Zm7D3LCr-CZlsmAnl0_cL/view?usp=sharing SEE IMAGE BELOW …. If no microchip … please bring kitty inside (where it is safe from coyotes into a bathroom or bedroom or closet or inside an extra large playpen: https://a.co/d/7EUE4E2 ) and print FLYERS… 🐱💜PRINT “FOUND- IS THIS YOUR CAT” FLYERS (Download Template/s below) Post up Flyers around your block on both sides of every lamppost - and distribute flyers door to door around the block and across the street to all your neighbors . KNOCK ON DOORS and ask if anyone knows where this sweet kitty lives... leave a note or FLYER or MINI-FLYER if not home ( use that blue painters tape to adhere directly to front doors or mailboxes so they are noticed. (don’t place mini flyers inside mailboxes they will get lost) You want to cover ALL possibilities. Spreading the word IN PERSON and online/ 💜💜💜 💜💜💜 Of 4 cats I helped recently , 2 were microchipped (chip company reached out to the guardian while I kept the cat in my bathroom and 1 cat was NOT chipped so I printed mini flyers and full page flyers. I used painters tape to tape MINI flyers to every resident’s front door around the entire block (kitty was in the backyard) and posted up flyers on lampposts and within 24 hours the guardian called! Not all cats have this happy ending but gosh it's the best feeling to help reunited a kitty with their guardian - thank you for helping ‘found’ cats get home. And if kitty is homeless, prayfully you might foster the cat until you can find a loving home… When they ‘show up’ in our lives it usually means they need help. I recently took home a cat seen in a neighbor’s backyard - she noticed a limp but thought kitty was fine. I cared for ‘Rain’ for 3 nights - he was in such bad shape but it wasn’t obvious from just looking at kitty going to the food bowl - he had been hurt by a human and had face trauma and brain damage…I was able to get him to the vet and have him assessed and get him strong pain and kept him warm and well fed in my bathroom - where it’s safe even for a sick cat with parasites ( administered to any and all parasites like fleas) He passed away on the 3rd morning. He had been ignored outside in people’s backyards for weeks..I’m so blessed to have been able to care for him for those 3 nights - he knew he was being LOVED for the first time in a long time …he did not die alone and I made sure he was medicated so he didn’t feel pain. 💜💜💜 💜💜💜 → FOUND CAT FLYER - TEMPLATE https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ohg8MW56MKlrZbBsddIW75Vl6QICG93f/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=102845077284118854428&rtpof=true&sd=true

Thank you for looking out for this kitty. Damia (aka Happy Cat Lady) has great FREE tips re: what to do if you find a kitty: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zyt_HX1sIq0AhRiirKeEbb3oe6VQSYe5x2LyFJYBB5o/edit?tab=t.0 If you are able to coax him/her into a carrier, you can take him to any vet to get him scanned for a microchip free of charge. Hopefully they are chipped and a reunion can be possible that way. If it got out by accident, it probably lives VERY close by, so going door-to-door in your neighborhood or posting flyers can help. Please don't give them “back” to anyone without careful consideration/proof of ownership (vet records, photos, etc.) If none of this yields a guardian, kitty sadly may have been abandoned. If you are able to adopt, amazing (please be sure they are seen by a vet and fixed if they are not already.) If not, I believe SFACC (Animal Care and Control) will accept abandoned animals without an appointment. I think you have to say they were abandoned. Additionally, if you go that route, I would be sure to note kitty's intake # and. call daily to check on kitty. I believe ACC is currently euthanizing for space, so if kitty is no t claimed, you may want to go back for them, as if kitty is shy/withdrawn, it may wwe a euth candidate. Kitty sure is pretty!!! (If they are friendly, ACC will probably be fine for them as a kitty this pretty is highly adoptable) Keep us posted!
