Check the surrounding shelters every day, not just the one in your city. Someone may have picked the dog up and not live near you, then dropped the dog at a shelter near them. It’s easy to do, go on their websites and scan the pictures. Also, go in person sometimes they hold dogs in the back that are not in the pictures. And also put posters up, because not everyone is on social media.

General information: Set up a scent station. Get a scent that the dog is familiar with out in front of the house. (EX. Worn clothing / shoes from family member dog lives with). Hang it out high so that the smell can travel and guide the dog back home. Keep an access point open in case the dog returns. Please post signs with the dogs' picture and your contact information on the sign. Post these signs all over as if someone spots your dog the person can contact you and provide a location of where the dog is. (Not everyone is on Social Media) Ask your neighbors to check their doorbell or house cameras (if applicable), sheds and garage. Call or go to the Animal Shelter in your area and tell them that your dog is missing and to see if it has been picked up.

Tips for Lost Dogs Leave some articles of your unwashed clothing (socks, shoes, t-shirt, pillowcases, etc.) and his/her bed outside for him/her to smell home. Change the clothing out daily to keep the scent fresh - hang some items, so that a breeze will carry the scent. Leave a gate open for him/her. If microchipped, notify the chip company that he/she is missing; update/confirm your contact info. Post on NextDoor, Ring and local Lost & Found Pets groups for your area. Ask neighbors to check their cameras. Please contact either of these legit pet rescue/recovery specialists: -Mike Noon of CatchingPaws -Babs Fry of A Way Home For Dogs Both will give you instructions on how to get him/her home. Post signs - a minimum of 50 in at least a 2-mile radius. Put “Do Not Chase” on them and ask for sightings, but beware of scammers claiming to have your dog. Visit surrounding shelters in person daily - leave flyers there. Leave flyers at surrounding vet offices/ER vets where someone may take him/her for a chip scan. Best wishes that he/she is home soon.

Post flyers for those people not on Facebook who may have taken them in and are hoping to see flyers. Keep checking local shelters and vet offices online and in person or call. Give them a flyer too. If microchipped let the company know and make sure your contact number is correct.

Also go to both animal shelters in Downey. 11258 Garfield, Downey, Downey animal care center. If not there go to Seaaca .
