She escaped from the hse we were moving into. She previously has been an indoor/outdoor cat. We miss her and are worried as there haven't been any sitings reported.

Pepper is probably scared and hiding and you will need to go out at NIGHT with a flashlight and look for her “glowing” eyes. She is VERY CLOSE to your house… most likely in YOUR OWN YARD. They usually find a hiding spot very quickly and very close to where they escaped. Look up in the trees and check under everything in YOUR YARD first… under decks, under sheds, inside bushes, wood piles and storm drains. Then check your neighbors yards. They are very good at hiding. THE BEST TIME TO FIND HER IS AT NIGHT WITH A FLASHLIGHT AND HER EYES WILL “GLOW” BACK AT YOU. Pepper is so scared, she will NOT respond to you calling her, so you'll have to use your eyes instead of your ears to find her. When cats are suddenly outside, they go into "survival mode" and their entire personality changes. They will NOT wander. They find a hiding spot very close by and are very scared and will not come out for anyone... even their owners. I hope you find your fur-baby very soon!

Are you absolutely sure she escaped outside? Since this is a new environment for Pepper... it's very normal for her to be scared and find a hiding spot inside the house. Look behind and under couches and chairs… look in the bat, the garage, inside crawl spaces, any small openings or cracks in walls… inside closets, drawers, boxes… under clothes, inside box springs… look behind the refrigerator and washer/dryer. Look from top to bottom. Also, check to make sure she didn't sneak into anything that you've recently opened for a short time and then closed… like closets, chests, bins, boxes, garage, etc. Open a can of cat food or shake a bag of treats to help lure her out of hiding.
