The only thing about Petsmart I’ve had several people go there, and if Banfield, the vet part is not open sometimes the microchip scanner does not work. Batteries are not in it or the customer service people are not able to connect it to the computer. That’s why I always suggest an actual vet or an animal hospital just FYI.

Quick update: We took him to the vet, and he does have a microchip. The owner was contacted, but unfortunately they said they don't want him anymore. It's heartbreaking. The vet also tried helping with surrender options, but the local shelters are currently full, so for now he's staying with us while we figure out the best next step. We already have two dogs and two kids, so this wasn't something we expected. The good news is that this sweet boy has been amazing. He's great with our dogs, wonderful with our kids, walks well on a leash, and has been nothing but friendly. Thank you all so much for sharing the original post and for all of the kind messages and support. We truly appreciate it.

if you’re able to put a collar and leash on him and take him to any vet or any hospital near you, you don’t have to be a patient there and they will microchip scan him for free!!!
