By law, you have to give owners a certain amount of time to claim a pet. If you can’t foster it, do you have a trusted neighbor/friend/relative/coworker who can? Scan for a microchip, post on neighbors.ring, Nextdoor, and 24petconnect. Hang bilingual flyers. Ask for proof of ownership. Notify the county shelter that you have the pet. If the pet has a rabies tag on the collar, the county can track down the owner.
