If your cat has a microchip, contact the company and make sure the chip has your current contact information. Place some dirty laundry outside. The familiar scent will attract your cat and lure it home. If safe to do so, leave a small opening where your cat can get back in if you’re not home when your cat returns. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators. Look for your cat late at night. Use a flashlight and look in trees, under cars and in bushes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. In addition to posting flyers, make flyers to leave at every neighbors house for several streets in all directions - ask them to check any area where your cat could be trapped - garages, sheds, etc. Make a large yard sign for your front yard with her picture and MISSING written on it so neighbors walking by will see it and keep an eye out. Check your local shelter website and in person, ask to see quarantine areas and deceased cat lists. Do not give up. Cats have been reunited months and even years later. Beware of Instagram “Trackers“ who offer search dogs. Beware of scammers that state they have your cat and ask for your email for confirmation codes. Require that they send you pictures of your cat that are not the same pictures you posted.
