Leave an access point to your home open, preferably the way he got out, but if that's not possible, at least leave the garage open enough for him to come in. They will often come back if they have an entry point. This worked for someone else in one hour after her cat was outside for 4 or 5 days. It was just waiting to go in unnoticed.
