Have you checked EVERY adoption/no kill shelter all over Long Island and into Queens. I have seen pets who have been held there for years and yours might be one. They display quite a few on lost.petcolove.org PETFINDERS Lend A Paw Plus all the town and county facilities Check it out…..you never know. I hope you have already found your cat or at least know what happened to him/her.

Look at night with a flashlight while calling his name. Look especially under bushes and in neighbors yards garages and sheds. Look up in trees, Leave something outside with his scent on it like his bedding. Leave something outside with your scent on it like an unwashed piece of clothing. Leave out smelly cat food. Hang signs with his photo. Call and visit local shelters and veterinary offices. Good luck!🍀

Remember, scent items are very important. And go out and calmly talk and call him/her like you normally would. They sense distress in your voice and will not come or respond so be calm. Also look up in trees under porches/decks, look at night with a flashlight as their eyes glow in the light. If possible set up cameras. She/he wants to come back, but is just scared and needs guidance. Cats hunker down when they are afraid so try to help him/her find their way back. They will try to come back in the way they got out so keep a point of entry open if at all possible. Good luck 🤞🙏

Make a shelter for him with some clothes with your scent on them as well as some smelly food like sardines in it. If possible, keep the door that he got out if open slightly and if that doesn't work I used Kelly Brach from Professional Pet Trackers to help find my cat that was missing for 2 weeks. She has 3 highly trained dogs that track the cat's scent. Her dog pinpointed the location and we set traps and 3 days later caught the cat. This cat was a Foster and not familiar or bonded with us. He was caught in the bushes 3 houses away from us and that was exactly where the dog led us. I would not have believed it unless I saw it myself. So important to know about this service.

Leave a reentry door open if you can. Leave a scent trail of his clothes, a cat bed and maybe some smelly food like tuna. He’s likely close by and more likely to return when it’s dark and quiet outside. Indoor kitties usually stay close to home. Put something with your scent on it (unwashed clothes) outside. If you have any other cats or put something with there scent on it too. Check under your porch if you have one. Check under grills, sheds, in garages, sheds, bats. The cat could have gotten stuck in a neighbors shed. Check yours as well as. Go door to door and ask if anyone has seen her, even put flyers at peoples doors. If you have a sighting, set a trap with worn piece of your clothing and some food. Also look around at night under bushes and in shrubs with a bright flashlight. It may catch on the kitties eyes. Looking at night when its quieter is better. If he went out the door or a window, leave it open might just come in on his own. You could also get a camera. Leave a window or door cracked open with food inside the house by that opening. They usually go to the same opening they escaped from.
