THEY SEE IT ALL! POST A BIG, COLORFUL SIGN IN YOUR OWN FRONT YARD! MAKE UP FLYERS If you are missing a pet, these people see pets in yards, in the bushes, and INSIDE homes every day. Many already know your pet-make them aware that your pet is missing! Who is around your neighborhood? Your Mail Carrier, the UPS driver, the FedEx driver, sanitation drivers and helpers, security patrol/police officers, any type of repair person, the people who mow your yard or your neighbor’s yard, school bus drivers, utility workers, tree trimmers, gas/water/electric meter readers…make sure to touch base and give them a flyer with your lost pet’s picture and your contact information. .....Scroll through the found pets on pawboost.com, OFTEN!…someone may have posted your pet as found!

Cats, by nature are nocturnal (night) animals. Often the best time to find a missing indoor cat is after dusk/before dawn, when it’s very quiet. Call her as if you were inside calling them for lap time-soft and sweet. They are very scared and will respond to your tone if they are close by. The flashlight trick works A LOT! Indoor cats tend to stay very close to the foundation of the house the first few days…Try the flashlight trick tonight after dusk...check behind bushes, under decks, under tarps, behind HVAC units, etc....Go out early morning or after dark when it’s very quiet out, and quietly (don’t yell) call her....chances are she's scared and hiding....pop the top of a cat food can (or anything) when it's very quiet...also get a picture to your mail carrier...they see EVERYTHING! Post to your local Nextdoor page...shake the cat chow bag or treat bag...anything that tells her it's safe to come out to Mom or Dad!...take a flashlight also...if she doesn't come to you shine it around to see if it catches her eyes...under bushes and in the trees-they tend to stay close to the foundation of houses... A physical search of your neighbor’s yards (and baited humane traps and/or digital wildlife cameras) is the most effective recovery method for finding a lost cat. DON’T put the litter box outside...other critters may climb in or tip it over and their smell will scare your cat AWAY...Put a BIG, COLORFUL sign in YOUR yard so people know where she belongs if they spot her or have her...Put a favorite toy/blanket/your worn clothing on the porch…Put out warmed, smelly (tuna, sardines, etc.) food…their sense of smell is phenomenal…ask you neighbors to check all sheds, crawl spaces and garages. Register the cat as missing with your local shelter-take a picture with you to post if they have a bulletin board-go there every day or 2 to look for yourself…please don't depend on a phone call. The person you speak to may not be aware that your pet might have been turned in. If your pet is an indoor/outdoor pet, a missing pet is the risk of that choice...check this website for more info about finding lost cats https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior YOU must be ACTIVE in searching for your lost pet…
