Message from Owner

Malibu got out the back of our hse April 9, 2026 at about 10:30pm. She was last seen coming back the same night at 2am in the backyard, but is very skittish so she ran when her name was called. She’s wearing a light blue collar with a bell & her name & phone number on the buckle. Malibu is small statured, but a little chunky. Also an indoor cat & this is her first time being outside like this. Malibu’s a very timid cat, so she most likely won’t come up to you, but if you get ahold of her, she’s the sweetest & likes to cuddle & climb into your neck or tuck her head in your arms. She rarely meows, but when she does it is a very low cry. She’ll be almost 5 years old in June. We just want her back & safe, our other cat Henny keeps looking for her in the hse.

Please check nearby storm drains and sewer pipes, vehicle engines and tire wells, plus attics and bats, garages and sheds, bushes and trees, and under buildings and porches. Good luck.

Shared ❤️ They usually don’t go far; your girl could be hiding nearby, waiting for things to quiet down. I’ve heard people have had success going outside and just sitting quietly near their door around dawn or dusk, and maybe calling her name softly, and let her come out in her own time. If she has a favorite treat, maybe have a little bag you can rattle softly & hold out a few for her to smell. Don’t give up! ❤️

You might try a live trap, they are fairly cheap, my Jane wanted to come back but was too overwhelmed and scared, she had made a home under a backyard shed across the street. Eventually she was found eating hamburger in the trap on my front porch and all was right again. It took about 3 weeks for her to show up and i did have to release squirrels and possums along the way which were easy. Tuna in oil also makes a lot of scent. Make sure there's water too. If its cold out, wrap the trap in a blanket and make sure to check it often, check it often no matter what the weather is. In fact, best to keep a camera on it. I believe in Jane's case, the live trap was her only chance. Best of luck and a swift resolve for you I hope

Hope some of these ideas will help... 🔻PUT OUT neon LOST posters, have your neighbors check their ring cams, sheds, garages, under the hood of their cars. Look up in trees, under bushes. 🔻PUT OUT worn clothing, SOCKS, blankets, pillowcases, if possible place where they can blow, cats can smell up to a mile away. Typically they do not travel more than 5 to 7 houses away from home. They are more likely to move at dawn and dusk. Use a flash light then to look for your kitty's eye reflection. If you have a back door, garage door, leave slightly open in case they come home to find shelter there, also call QUIETLY his/her name, shake treats if they respond to that having the door open to a safe space that it can come running back to. They're usually scared and resort to survival instincts, do not chase. ⚠️⚠️IT IS NOT advised to put their litter box outside as it can attract other outside critters and keep your cat from coming back home 👉this being said some people do find the litterbox to be a good scent trigger for their cat: 🔻PLEASE monitor the box and NEVER leave outside after dark. 🔻SAME for food, only leave out if you can monitor. Notify your microchip company, mail carrier, your local shelter. Post on neighborhood apps & local lost and found groups in your area (via FB). 👀 If you do have sightings of your kitty and are unable to get them back inside please ask for help in setting a ❤️humane trap. ⚠️⚠️⚠️CAUTION👉with suggestions to contact a lost pet person or service, they should be local and well recommended! A message from someone saying they found your cat and to send a 6 digit code, it's a scam! PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP!🙏
