Beware of people who will tell you they found your dog, but you have to message them on FB or text a code to a certain phone number. These are the scams. A person who truly found your dog will not put conditions on you except maybe to show them proof of ownership, like pictures. Also, people will tell you how they used a recovery/search agency to find their pet. Also, a scam to take your money. Most of those services are not even in the TriState. Exception is, Reaves Recovery and Rescue which is here in Cincinnati area, but does charge a fee since it is a business. There is also Lost Pet Recovery out of Columbus with volunteers here in TriState. Notify your area police depts through their nonemergency number that you lost your dog.
You can make a lost dog report at your local animal shelter or Cincinnati Animal CARE. Check in person at least every other day because they are very busy. Stray hold is only 3 days before can be adopted out.
