Hi! My name is Zaria. I am looking for Liam. He’s a sweet adult male feral cat who has been living in my backyard for about 3 weeks now, but has been missing for the past two days, after sustaining a severe injury while being outside over night on Sept 17th. I’m not sure what happened!!! I’ve been regularly feeding Liam for about three weeks+ and have been doing everything I can to make him as comfortable and safe as possible. I purchased him a small cat hse, food and water bowls, toys, and treats. Despite being feral, Liam is incredibly sweet and has warmed up to people much more quickly than I expected. He loves playing with his toys and enjoys the attention once he feels safe!! Unfortunately, as shown in the previous photos, just last night Liam now has an open wound on his neck that requires emergency veterinary attention. He also appeared to have a skin rash above his ears that needs to be evaluated. He has recently gotten into fights with some of the larger cats in the neighborhood. I’ve had to go outside to scare them away from him so I don’t know if this may have been the cause for this injury, I’m not sure! This has caused him to be in a lot of pain and go into hiding for his own safety. I had already scheduled Liam for a comprehensive veterinary checkup at Flatbush Veterinary Clinic, but have been trying to save money first and I’ve registered for a TNR certification course in hopes of being able to access lower-cost veterinary services for him. I’ve also reached out to several organizations for guidance and possible assistance. Some have responded, while others have unfortunately been difficult to reach. My biggest concern right now is getting Liam the medical care he needs as soon as possible!!!! Although my backyard has become his safe space for the time being, living outside still exposes him to fights and other animals passing through back there. I really want to get him off the street and somewhere safe!! The good news is that Liam already has someone who wants to give him a permanent home. My sister and her partner would like to adopt him, so my ultimate goal is not to put Liam into the shelter/rescue system. I want to get him healthy, safe, neutered, and eventually into a loving home. If anyone is able to help cover the cost of his emergency vet care, including treatment for his neck wound and anything else the veterinarian determines he needs, that would be a HUGE HELP!! Once he is stable, I hope to continue with his comprehensive exam and TNR-related care, ultimately bringing him to his forever home. I personally have multiple animals in my own home, including elderly dogs and cats whom have other chronic health issues, so bringing Liam inside immediately isn’t an option. Because he has spent his life having to protect himself, I also don’t know how he would initially respond to other animals but he seems to be defensive and aggressive towards other animals, due to his circumstances although very sweet and friendly to humans! As I mentioned, my main priority is getting him treated for this emergency that occurred. I’m worried for him!!! My immediate relative who resides next door from me, agreed to care for Liam while I’m away for the upcoming week, I am a federal reservist and have been deployed out of state for training so I am extremely concerned for Liam and will be attempting to trap him in a carrier in the morning, after feeding, so he can get emergency care at a vet being that I have been the primary caretaker and I’m leaving for the deployment on Sunday. I was trying to avoid high costs for his care but I have no choice to bring him in to get help for his severe wound. I can’t watch him be in pain much longer. Once I find him, I will make the trip to the emergency vet. I don’t want to wait much longer! If you have the amazing opportunity to meet Liam, please cherish every moment. He is a special loving soul and we miss him. Please contact me if you find him!
