Melissa Melt if those systems are used my friend most don’t and the vet doesn’t register the dog with the county or state that’s the owners responsibility most county’s charge a registering fee and most pet owners don’t wanna pay it. I hope you help did that babies home but unfortunately and sadly it probably won’t be with the rabies tags vets administer the rabies and keep the tag number for their files they don’t file it with the state or county in any way I’ve worked for multiple vets in this state and others. Hope the owner registered their own dog.

Laramie Smith pet bridge is a user based database not mandated but usable & others like it, theres also search angels who are able to search using juat a rabies tag. Also state keeps records so AC, a vet can look it up. Ive reunited at least 3 animals with minimal info on their rabies tag with little effort

There isn’t a database and if you call animal control they will tell you the exact same thing unless you know what vet the pet goes to you won’t be getting any help from a rabies tag

Melissa Melt yea tied to the animal & the owner. It’s required in NC so there is a database for rabies ID numbers.

Laramie Smith rabies tags can absolutely be traced, theres owner used databases as well as search teams. Tags have specific colors, shapes and numbers for that reason.

I work in the animal industry and I can 100% assure you they do not and if you call animal control and give them a tag number they will tell you the same a chip is the only way to protect you babies if they are lost because a rabies tag will not I have worked in vet clinics grooming salons and for animal control once upon a time

Rabies tags can most certainly be traced to an owner. Have to call who administered the vaccine & they have a record of what tag # was given to a pet with owner’s information. Been done many times.
