Update: Dixie came home at 3:00AM on her own after wiggling out of her harness and leash walking 8:30 AM yesterday. Thank you for so many comments, shares, prayers ans wonderful suggestions. I'm updating the posting as Found and Reunited. THANK YOU so much for being there for both Dixie and I during sad, scary moments waiting for her return to home. I did place a tshirt outside and her favorite toy ball. I couldn't borrow a trap, but did put her cat car carrier outside a few hours before it rained. I place food and water at the back door, alerted Dorsey Gardens Apartments wonderful staff Dixie was missing. I walked the areas she ran from and the 3 side streets past while ringing her bell collar and saying her name. At 2 pm yesterday I came in from searching heard 1 meow outside, ran outside but Dixie was not outside, children were riding their bikes laughing and playing but I knew I heard a meow. Late last night as it was raining I went outside walked around with my cellphone flashlight calling her name, yet nothing.. I cried on off all day, however after reading such wonderful comments and shares here. I felt positive and hopeful I will see Dixie again. I kept my windows open and at 3:00am Dixie was meowing outside looking up at the window, I ran so fast outside and grabbed her before she could get away. Although she was dirty with mulch and grass in her fur she was okay. Once inside she ran to her litter box (like she always does coming in from our walks) then to her food and water bowls. After Dixie ate we played with her touys until we both fell asleep. My home felt so sad and dfferent without her those 18 1/2 hours she was missing then she comes home as if she was not even gone. We are blessed she has no injuries, she was very hungry and thirsty, not sure where she went on her missing cat adventures, but so very happy she's back home safe. Yesterday during my online search efforts posting Dixie's missing posts, reviewing other missing pet postings made me very sad to know so many pets are missing, yet many are reunited. I ordered online Dixie a GPS tracker and a new harness with many safety features to prevent Dixie from wiggling out when on walks, compared to the current cat harness she got out of and ran away. So very gratelul to All the wonderful people here at Facebook, Rochester, NY - Lost Dogs, Cats & Pets - PawBoost , Instagram, Nextdoor, Dorsey Gardens Apartments Staff, Lollypop Farm, Verona Animal Shelter, Town of Greece Animal Shelter, Dixie's Vetrinarian Office Staff, the Daycare Staff, neighbors residing in the area Dixie went missing and also the USPS Letter Carrier and an Amazon Driver whom helped suggestions,,prayers, well wishes, caring and sharing such positive encouragement to not give up, shraing their personal experiences, suggestions and kindness. Some people have stayed outside all night and their cats have come home in the early AM when they felt safer to come out from hiding. A drone search and pet search/rescue service will help.
