Here are a few things you can try. Cats usually don’t go far. They just hide well. Cats are very active at dusk and dawn. So first of all you can go out and call for him. You can put his food/water, and lots of cat nip outside your house to help draw him back. Also, put your cat's bedding that has your cat's scent on it outside to attract your cat back to your home. Also putting your own unwashed clothes or bedding out . Cats run on scent and this is highly effective in luring your cat back home .PetMD backs this up, can help lure the cat back home, as it's a comfortable and familiar smell. Shake the treat/food container outside. Check garages, especially under porches and decks,dense bushes, etc. Get one of those strong flashlights they will catch a cat's reflective eyes two blocks away and save you tons of time!!! Do not leave the food out overnight as it will attract other animals that can scare the kitty away. Go to your neighbors and let them know your kitty got out and give them your contact info. Walk your neighborhood and talk to people as you can. Take a flyer TO your local vets office and shelter a face is better than a thousand words of description and check every couple of days in person if possible Sometimes it can take weeks or months to find your kitty. Also post with Pawboost and Sam the Parrot about your missing cat. Many times cats are found within a couple hundred feet of their homes. Post fliers around your neighborhood with your phone number that people can call day or night. And talk to your mail carrier. They see lots of animals. If they see a strange kitty around, they may recognize it as yours. Make sure you call local animal shelters, etc Best time to look is between 1-6AM Get a humane trap ASAP! This it's the best chance at retrieving your cat. Line it with newspaper. The ONLY food you leave out should be in that trap. Do not leave the trap set for long periods of time unattended, especially overnight. The most importantly do not give up hope! Open your garage door a little. Don’t put the litter box out. 🙏🏻Also take a flashlight out at night and look in and under things to see if you can see the kitty’s eyes.

A worn piece of clothing often works well on your porch as well as inside a garage. Like I mentioned previously. It would be good to post on neighbor's ring app which covers the 3 mi radius of your location and alerts people that have the app. It would be good to focus on a one to two block radius of your home especially at Dawn dusk in feeding time, shaking a bag of cat treats or cat food vigorously to help attract your cat's attention if it's nearby, and to also bring a flashlight with you to help catch a glimpse of its eyes. If it's near. While you're in this area, make sure you check in trees, window wells shrubbery under decks and porches where there's a good chance the camp might be hiding And ask your neighbors to check their shed and garage where cats are often found. Flyers are very important. They are best put in a zip gallon bag that is upside down to protect from the elements. It was just recently that both the dog and a cat were reunited by flyers alone since the people that found the animals did not have social media. If you adopted from a rescue, they usually like to know ASAP that a former animal is missing. If your cat has a microchip, it's good to make sure your contact information is up to date so you can be contacted if your cat is found. Cats tend to stay close to home before they wander so time is of the essence. Make sure your cat is not hiding in the garage in a closet in a dresser, drawer or behind furniture which often happens. I've heard of a few cats returning home the past few years when the owner left their garage open about 5 inches with a worn piece of clothing on the inside of the garage near the opening to help attract the cat if it comes close back to home but not too wide. So you do not attract unwanted animals. It's good if you go check outside on your block around Dawn and dusk with a flashlight looking in shrubbery and under decks and porches to hopefully catch a glimpse of your cat's eyes if it is close by. Usually cats are scared when they first leave home and might not even respond to you. So the flashlight might come in handy to catch a glimpse of the eyes. It's also good to check your local animal control in person daily because things change very often and best in person. It's also good to check local rescues and shelters in your area daily. These are general search tips and not all may apply in your situation. Search at night w/ a flashlight (eyes will glow). Check up in trees and inside/under things in your yard and up to 4 - 5 houses away. Search garages, sheds, under decks and bushes, in crawl spaces, behind AC units - any place the cat might be trapped or hiding. Many cats go into hiding mode for safety and won't come when they hear their owner's voice but try calling and try either shaking a can/bag of treats or carrying an open (smelly) can of cat food or fish. Put something w/ the cat's scent on the porch (cat bed, scratching post, sofa pillows). Keep your garage door up enough to allow entry. Keep fresh bowls of water out. Put up large missing cat posters (neon poster board works well), talk to neighbors (leave info for those not home), post on all local social media groups and make sure to check with local animal control at least once a week (better to go in person but at least call and send them a photo). If not found at night with a flashlight, go out during early morning, before dawn, as many cats are active around that time. If not found in a few days, you can always buy a humane cat trap but traps *must* be checked multiple times each day, every day. If the cat is microchipped, please make sure the chip company has your updated contact information. And even if the cat has a chip, you still need to check with animal control as chips sometimes are overlooked or migrate down. Please search often and don't give up hope.

Go around late at night calling them with food and flashlight to catch their eyes. Check around your neighborhood under houses and in small places where they may hide. Put stuff out that has yours and their scent on it. Hang flyers around for people to see. Check shelters and vets daily. Update chip info if they have a chip and its has not been update since a move. Ask neighbors to check in their garages incase they ended up trapped in one. I pray you get your baby back safe and soon.
