I recommend you look in close neighbours outbuildings we found ours in backyard neighbor RV- they had looked but he hid we found him 3 days later he was fine but I hate to think if we hadn’t. Just have a flyer with you and kindly ask to have a quick look so you can call out to him as cats frequently hide when frightened. I hope kitty is home 🔜 🙏2 cats found by their owners recently one in a garage and other in a shed. At neighbors 👍boots on the ground people will be kind if you ask for their help. Call your local pound and leave a door open 👍look up into trees bring flashlight you will see the eyes 2 cats found be their owners today locked in neighbours basement and another in neighbours shed!!! Basement was after 3 weeks gone!

Lost Cats‼️ Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for her to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be killed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of her eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they can snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. In addition to posted flyers, make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Some people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for her as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. a lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can a cat in a trap.

For Sylvie’s people: Please read the advice shared on the Missing Animal Response Network. They have a page specific to lost cat behavior. https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/ If you have not already, visit neighboring homes and ask them to look into their garages and outbuildings, checking multiple times while sitting patiently, and quietly. Cats get scared when in strange places and won't necessarily bolt for the door when it is opened, and might not even run to a familiar person if they happen to be present. Also, post flyers - don't rely upon everyone having access to on-line posts. Check every logical and illogical place your cat may have gotten into on your property, to name just a few: cabinets/drawers — high and low; behind/under cushions on sofas, liners under sofas; closets; in garages/basements/sheds. Don’t forget to check in with local vets and animal shelters. Some have had success with placing a humane trap in their backyard - luring kitty in with a serving of their regular food; also with leaving clothing/blankets with your and/or their scent. If you have not already, post to Pawboost and/or Nextdoor. Each has their own audience and can be highly effective. Finally, for any reading this, please keep a bowl of water (ideally freshened every 2-3 days) in your garages/outbuildings for those instances when a neighborhood critter happens to find themselves trapped. Good luck, I hope to read a positive update on Sylvia soon!

Shared. Post Sylvie on Nextdoor as well and check for updates on both websites. Also check the lists of found pets on both websites, to see if she's been posted as found. Check the shelters frequently, both in person and online. File a missing report while you're there. Contact local rescue groups just in case. If there are colonies of feral kitties nearby, check there as well. She could be searching for food and water where the colonies are established, even if she doesn't get along with other cats. Not everyone checks social media, post flyers in the area. Include veterinary offices and pet stores when you post the flyers. Ask your neighbors to check their garages, back yards, storage sheds, under porches and crawl space under the house, bushes and trees under parked vehicles, etc. Be there with a carrier and a bag of her favorite treats (or an open can of food and a spoon). Shake the bag or tap the can while calling out to her. Keep your voice calm. Any stress in your voice will alert her to stay hidden. Search around the neighborhood when it's quieter, the time when it's getting dark works well. Take a flashlight, the carrier, and the bag of treats (or the can and spoon).Search out of the way spots, bushes and trees, and under parked vehicles. Keep in mind that cats can squeeze into very tight spaces! So if in doubt, check it out. And check areas where she might be looking for food water and shelter (like the dumpster area of a restaurant, for example). Good luck 💖
