These are general search tips and not all may apply in your situation. Search at night w/ a flashlight (eyes will glow). Check up in trees and inside/under things in your yard and up to 4 - 5 houses away. Search garages, sheds, under decks and bushes, in crawl spaces, behind AC units - any place the cat might be trapped or hiding. Many cats go into hiding mode for safety and won't come when they hear their owner's voice but try calling and try either shaking a can/bag of treats or carrying an open (smelly) can of cat food or fish. Put something w/ the cat's scent on the porch (cat bed, scratching post, sofa pillows). Keep your garage door up enough to allow entry. Keep fresh bowls of water out. Put up large missing cat posters (neon poster board works well), talk to neighbors (leave info for those not home), post on all local social media groups and make sure to check with local animal control at least once a week (better to go in person but at least call and send them a photo). If not found at night with a flashlight, go out during early morning, before dawn, as many cats are active around that time. If not found in a few days, you can always buy a humane cat trap but traps *must* be checked multiple times each day, every day. If the cat is microchipped, please make sure the chip company has your updated contact information. And even if the cat has a chip, you still need to check with animal control as chips sometimes are overlooked or migrate down. Please search often and don't give up hope.

If your cat is an indoor cat, it will be scared and won’t come when called. Try placing their used litter outside. At night, use a flashlight to check under your and your neighbors' bushes and decks for the reflection of your cat's eyes. ‼️Additionally, consider setting up a humane trap as soon as possible, as it's one of the most effective methods for finding lost cats ‼️. You can bait the trap with strong-smelling sardines. These traps can be purchased at local hardware stores or borrowed from animal shelters. While this approach might seem drastic, remember that lost pets often enter survival mode and behave differently. Be sure to research how to use a humane trap effectively. Make sure to visit local animal shelters in person and look for your missing kitty, and post flyers within a one-mile radius of where your kitty went missing. There are also many valuable resources available online if you search for "how to find your missing cat." Important Note: Be cautious of scåmmers who may claim they have found your cat or offer drøne services. It's best not to engage with them. 🙏🏻❤️

Hope some of these ideas will help... 🔻PUT OUT neon LOST posters, have your neighbors check their ring cams, sheds, garages, under the hood of their cars. Look up in trees, under bushes. 🔻PUT OUT worn clothing, SOCKS, blankets, pillowcases, if possible place where they can blow, cats can smell up to a mile away. Typically they do not travel more than 5 to 7 houses away from home. They are more likely to move at dawn and dusk. Use a flash light then to look for your kitty's eye reflection. If you have a back door, garage door, leave slightly open in case they come home to find shelter there, also call QUIETLY his/her name, shake treats if they respond to that having the door open to a safe space that it can come running back to. They're usually scared and resort to survival instincts, do not chase. ⚠️ smelly cat food might attract but only leave out if you can monitor. Notify your microchip company, mail carrier, your local shelter. Post on neighborhood apps & local lost and found groups in your area (via FB). 👀 If you do have sightings of your kitty and are unable to get them back inside please ask for help in setting a ❤️humane trap. ⚠️⚠️⚠️CAUTION👉with suggestions to contact a lost pet person or service, they should be local and well recommended! A message from someone saying they found your cat and to send a 6 digit code, it's a scam! PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP!🙏

Set-up a Scent Station outside, with the owner's dirty clothes/tie socks to trees, etc. (One night that you can monitor, trail food like sardines, etc., through a cracked door.) Try shaking a treat box outside in the evening...and call for them. Check bushes/trees with a flashlight. Post also to Nextdoor; Put an Ad in the local newspapers. Post Lost Cat signs in the area; Give Flyers to neighbors/Mail and Delivery people; (ask to please check in/under sheds, decks, in crawlspaces, etc. Report lost to area shelters; check often in person, if possible. Hope this helps to locate the lost pet!

Sorry your beautiful kitty is missing. Is she microchipped? Is she indoor-only? Is she wearing a collar with identifying information? Be sure to post on all local lost pet sites including Skippy Lou's and Nextdoor. Be sure to include that she is indoor-only. Put flyers up in the neighborhood--not everyone checks social media. Let local vets and shelters know. Make sure she is not trapped somewhere in the house. From my experience, when indoor cats get outside, they usually do not go far. Look VERY nearby: in trees, in bushes, under cars, under porches, under decks, and in your neighbor's yards. Ask your neighbors to be on the lookout for her and to check their crawlspaces, garages, and sheds. Cats sometimes get trapped there. Shake her treats or call her like you do when you feed her. Place your clothing outside so she can follow the scent. Know that she is probably scared and may not respond to your voice or you calling her name. When our indoor cat got out, we unknowingly walked by him several times while calling his name. He stayed hidden in the bushes because he was so scared. Bring an open container of tuna when you are looking. Use a flashlight when looking for her to catch her eye reflections. Black cats are awesome. I am praying that she gets home immediately.
