I'm so sorry about your baby.🥺💔 Most cats stay close to home or near where they were lost so it is critical to stay as proactive and persistent, as possible. ●Check everywhere outside even in drain pipes and drains, under cars, under bushes and dumpsters, up in trees and anywhere his collar could get hung. ●Use a flashlight at night because it will reflect your cat's eyes. ●Walk all the floors of all the apartment buildings, especially at night, as your cat may go to the wrong one. (If an indoor-only cat, just know they typically do not recognize their owners outside because it is a different environment and they are scared.) ●Notify your apartment management immediately that your cat is missing in case someone calls them. ●Make sure you have food and water out for your cat near your building under some bushes. ●Sit quietly outside every single day especially in the morning and at dusk/night near the food station (a few feet away) so your cat can get comfortable seeing you there. ●Put dry food in a plastic container with a lid and periodically shake it and call your cat's name. ●Crack your door (only if safe to do so) so your cat can get inside. ●Put up flyers for neighbors at the apartment mailboxes and on the bulletin boards inside each apartment building. ●Offer some type of reward, if you can. A reward will incite people to intentionally be on the lookout for your cat or to return it to you. ●Work with a cat rescue/shelter to set a cat trap or you can purchase one at Tractor Supply, Home Depot, or on Amazon and set it yourself. Once the trap is set you can pick up the food (leave the water). You will need to monitor the trap. ●Let the apartment management know that your cat is missing and you are setting a trap and why. ●Also post on the Ring app, Nextdoor app and Pawboost and visit pet rescues/shelters in person regularly to see if someone has found your cat and has taken it to one. Give them a flyer and report your cat as missing.
