Open a Lost Cat Report with the SPCA via spca.com Her photo will then be posted on the SPCA site. Provide good photos taken face view and close. Save her soiled cat litter box. Sprinkle some of her soiled litter on the side of your stairs and on the earth of the shrubs that you share with immediate neighbors. You can also put some on aluminum foil sheets, cup them and place in the bushes on your property. The familiar scent will attract her.

Please put some of her used litter inside a small container outside on the balcony for her to smell and reorient herself home. If you don’t have any used litter left, please put some of your old used clothing, with your smell on them, or anything of hers with her smell on them, outside on the balcony, for the same reason. If there is a window she can jump into, leave that open for her. Check the sheds and garages in the area. Cats generally don’t tend to go too far. When it gets dark outside, go outside on the balcony and shake her favorite box of treats while calling out her name for several minutes. Do this every half hour or so for several hours every evening (and between 2 and 4 a.m.). .). Do it at the same place every evening so that she can orient herself towards your home. Put out posters with her picture and info around the neighborhood. Call the veterinarians in the area and bring some posters to them. Sometimes people bring strays there to see if they are chipped. Call the city and find out where they bring strays they find. Go in PERSON to the SPCA and Berger Blanc. Also check on their websites. Calling them IS NOT enough. You have to go in PERSON and often. Check the posts on Pawboost as well. People post animals they have found. Hope this helps. Hope she comes home soon. If you are on a higher floor in an apartment building and don't think she can climb up to your floor, put posters of your cat on each floor and do the following as well: Please put a cat trap outside your house and make sure some of her old used litter is inside the cat trap. If you don’t have any used litter left, put some of your old used clothing with your smell on them inside the cat trap for her to smell and reorient herself there. Check often. I believe you can rent a cat trap from a veterinarian.

Please go out at night when it is quieter and shake a bag of treats and call her name she is probably hiding and scared and will come out when she hears your voice 🙏

Oh no. Check all sheds, garages, under porches around: could be stuck. Crucial to keep going out each night and early in the mornings, calling and shaking the treats/kibble bag. There's controversy over putting out litter but I know people who do. Put his/her used litter box outside on the balcony/front porch/outside where you think she got out, for him/her to smell and reorient herself home. Also put out some of your old used clothing with your smell on it for the same reason. Check the sheds and garages in the area. When it gets dark outside, go outside and shake a box of treats while calling his/her name; call in a very high and calm voice, every quarter of an hour or twenty minutes, for a full 5 minutes, and do this every half hour minimum, for a minimum of 3 hours in total, and at minimum call your cat 6 times a night, more if you wish, also in early morning before noise of day muffles you hearing her mewing back at you.

Very important to put up flyers in and around the area (for people not on FB). Even place them inside mailboxes. These steps must be done right away and must be done everyday 🙏 Place a bit of her soiled litter outside, not the full litter box (sheltered from the rain, so not to get it wet). But don’t leave it outside overnight. It may attract other animals. Place a blanket or a piece of clothing with her scent on it outside as well. She may be able to smell her own scent and find her way home 🤞 Put out her food and a water bowl, in the same place everyday. You want her to stay close by. But don’t leave the food out when it’s night, bring it back inside. If possible, leave an exit door or window opened so your cat can get back inside (while keeping other cats in the house safe in a closed room). You need to go out looking for her early mornings and late nights, calling her name and bring her favorite treats. She must be scared and hiding close by. But do not walk too far from your house, you do not want her to follow the sound of your voice and be that much further away from home. You want her to stay close by 🤞 Tell neighbors to look out for her, to check under and inside their sheds, garages, under balconies, etc… I would strongly suggest to ask your neighbours if you can go in their backyards and check for your cat yourself. Someone lost their cat and found her weeks later stuck inside a Cabano, not alive 😔 You should open a missing cat file with the Montreal SPCA and Proanima Montreal.
