32217 here with a similar issue. Three babies were found behind our garage with a mama last week. Springfield Cat Rescue has the kittens, and the mama was dropped off to be fixed this morning. They look remarkably similar. We have bassets that almost got tangled up with the unexpected feral and highly protective mama, and her vulnerable babies. They were likely dumped in our neighborhood. Could be the same group of cats. Photos in the comments…

PLEASE!!! READ BELOW & BE CAREFUL!!! PLEASE! NO FREE ANIMAL EVER! Always ask for personal if you can, but especially veterinarian references. No matter how nice these people might seem to you or act are you even like them, this is a must! People will sell to class B sellers for $50. Those people then sell to Laboratories for testing on and pharmaceuticals as well as makeup. When they are done with them they euthanize them after being tortured and having painful experiments done. They also will sell to class B sellers to universities so that they can use them as they are kept in formaldehyde for a year for anatomy and physiology class. How do I know this? Because I am a registered nurse and we were all given a cat for our full year of anatomy and physiology so that we could identify the internal organs that were injected with dye so each one was a different color. This is very important that you always ask for references and a small homing fee! Also, fighting dog owners use them as bait. They will tie them to the handlebar area of a treadmill and place their fighting dog below on the treadmill for exercise snapping at their dangling bodies tearing them apart to create blood loss. And lastly? If they are tiny, they will use them for snake food. Always, ask for a rehoming fee and Veterinary references.
