Cheryl Morphew Layman, it's honestly amazing how you're more bothered by a picture than the fact that someone's beloved cat lost its life. A photo isn't posted to be "graphic" or for attention—it's posted because that's how owners identify their missing pets. Not everyone sees their animals as "just a cat." That cat could have been someone's emotional support animal, childhood pet, or best friend. Someone could be out there searching every single day, praying for answers. Without a picture, they may never know. If you don't like seeing those kinds of posts, Facebook has a pretty simple solution—keep scrolling. The world doesn't revolve around what you do or don't want to see. Other people are trying to help reunite a family with answers, even if those answers are heartbreaking. So ask yourself this: if it were your cat, would you still be complaining about someone posting a picture? Or would you be grateful that someone cared enough to give you the chance to identify your pet instead of leaving you wondering forever? Sometimes it's better to think before commenting. Showing a picture isn't cruel—keeping an owner from recognizing their pet is. A little empathy would go a lot further than complaining about something that could bring a grieving family the closure they deserve.

Mary Deford-Tincher you can still take it to a local vet and have it check for a microchip. That way if he/she is microchip owners can be contacted otherwise the vet will send the body off for cremation as a good samaratian
