Karen Gray but they can't find a lost dog that's out there that nobody is seeing. The owner and a bunch of people are keeping an eye out for this pit and not seeing it.

Karen Gray THIS is a perfect example of where shines the most. They are working on this case right now and they will be able to get this dog. But they need a foster or an owner lined up first. They cannot just go out and catch every lost dog in the valley they have nowhere to put them.

Karen Gray also there was a dog missing in the West Valley and the owner was posting everywhere looking for her I started sharing in the surprise groups after the owner said there had been a sighting of her little dog there. Several moms in the community got in their cars and came out and started driving up and down every street to help the owner look for her dog. It was amazing support from the community. But the owner signed up with Hartt and the volunteer coordinator for that area advised her to remove all of the posts that mentioned a reward, to remove the dog's name from the posts and so the owner just asked me to take all of them down from facebook. Lots of people were commenting it was getting a ton of Engagement and lots of volunteers were showing up to help. I was told to remove all the posts and for everyone to go home. The h a r t t volunteer was going to set a trap because the dog was in fight or flight mode and they needed everybody to go away and not look for the dog so she could quiet down. I explained to the h a r t t volunteer this was a heavy heavy coyote area and I did not think we could afford to just "leave the dog to settle down" it was going to cost her her life. She insisted, I advised the owner of all of this it was too dangerous with a huge pack of coyotes Milling around the area and she chose to listen to them. Nobody ever saw her dog again. She continued to post for another month or 6 weeks to no avail. I believe her dog is gone and I believe the coyotes got it. I truly believe that was a really bad call and it makes me very sad every time I think about it.

Karen Gray if a dog is running around and nobody can catch it but everyone keeps posting hey we see this dog. They are really really excellent at coming out and catching the dog. But they will not just come and catch a stray if it doesn't have an owner or a rescue or Foster lined up to take it because they don't have anywhere to put them. They do have tracking people on the team so like if a dog is lost at an accident scene or out in the desert they can try to figure out where it went, but most pets that get out that are just lost in the city they don't find them for the owners. And I see a lot of people suggesting that owners of lost pets contact them because " it will help them find their pets." In this sense it is not the case. The website has great information and lots of suggestions and the biggest one is assistance with making flyers, leaving a trail of clothing with your scent on it things like that for owners to do to find their pets. They have a bunch of suggestions on methods to find your pet. Not for them to come out and locate it. The problem with people telling owners to contact them to find their pet is instead of being out on the street looking for their pet owners are sitting on the website reading through tons of information while they're in a frantic emotional state and then they spend likely 30 minutes to an hour trying to make flyers and then figure out where to get them printed. Then they start putting up flyers. Back in the day rescue volunteers were jumping their car and drive over and help an owner search the area for their pet. Hart more Volunteers in some areas than others and I would say most of them have full-time jobs and Families and life going on so when they are available they will do what they can but the increasing number of pets getting out has gotten to be ridiculous and no one agency has the manpower to handle it all. Some days it seems like everyone in the valley open their Gates and let their dogs free. Also people have to go to the website read the information, click on the appropriate situation for help and then fill out pretty extensive questions. I know one woman said she filled it out and still hadn't heard from them 3 or 4 days later if I remember correctly. I contacted the director about it and she said the woman was not in the system at all and she needed to redo it because it didn't go through. There was a dog probably about 6 months ago that was missing from a car accident scene way out in the West Valley off the 10 and the police had given the wrong mile marker to the owner so she had spent a whole day out there looking for her dog in the desert. The next day h a r t t went out with her and found the actual accident scene and then they found the dog. She had passed away. Then there was a dog in Sun City running from everyone in a neighborhood and a woman got a picture of it finally after several days, and an ex Hartt member showed up and was able to contain the dog.🥰
