Go out early morning or after dark and quietly call your cat....chances are you cat is scared and hiding....pop the top of a cat food can (or anything) when it's very quiet..shake the cat chow bag or treat bag...anything that tells your cat it's safe to come out to Mom or Dad!...take a flashlight also...if your cat doesn't come to you, shine it around to see if it catches it's eyes...under bushes and in the trees. Put a BIG, COLORFUL sign in YOUR yard so people know where your cat belongs if they spot him or her...Put your worn clothing on the porch…their sense of smell is phenomenal…ask your neighbors to check sheds, crawl spaces and garages. Register the cat as missing with your local shelter-take a picture with you to post if they have a bulletin board-go there every day or 2 to look for yourself…please don't depend on a phone call. The person you speak to may not be aware that your pet might have been turned in.

Be sure to GO to your LOCAL SHELTERS with a photo and report your pet lost (your pet may have been taken to a shelter that is not the closest one to you). They have a board for both lost and found pets. Many finders take pets they find to them. Remember, NOT EVERYONE is on Social Media. There's some excellent advice on Missing Animal Response Network on Facebook as well as their website. Additional advice can be found on the website under the drop down menu labeled lost pet help.

Correction to flyer- the subdivision behind me is Crossroads, not Wolf Creek…that’s just the name of some of the roads back there. I’ve put flyers in all my neighbors mailboxes, the subdivision behind me’s mailboxes, at the mailboxes of the 2 apartment complexes near me, at all 3 vets in town, the closest grocery store window, and the animal shelter. I also laminated a sign and put it up in my yard near my mailbox. So far nothing, but I saw a missing cat flyer at the apartment complexes for a cat that looks a lot like a stray cat that has occasionally come in my backyard, so I’m hopeful that I can at the very least reunite someone else with their lost baby! ❤️ She brought me a trap for that cat (I’ve never been able to get ANYWHERE near him, but he comes up on my porch when he thinks I’m not around). 🤞🏻

Annette Brown thank you 😊 Already have some of that stuff in place. She grew up here and isn’t easily spooked so I’m not as worried about her getting lost as I am about her getting/being injured! 😕 I printed a few of the fliers and sent one to my neighbor who’s the LT of the PD here so he can also help. I never thought about the sign in the front yard, though! Genius! I even have a laminator!
