5. Check for your missing pet at San Jose Animal Care Center and the Santa Clara County Shelter, and look on their websites in-between visits. Also please understand that a photo of your pet might look a bit different if they have been lost for bIt (dirtier, hair longer, thinner, or without their collar). Please note animal holds are only for 3-days!
6. For lost cats, get a humane trap, set at sundown and never leave it un-attended. Bait it with boneless KFC or crushed up sardines. Try to reach out a person seasoned in trapping to help. Ask neighbors to check sheds, garages, under decks, bushes and under cars. Put your dirty T-shirt, PJs, Workout top (low on a hanger on a bush so they can smell you.
7. Always chip your pet and keep the chip number saved where your can find it. Call your chip company and report as missing. If you move, update your chip. In addition, get a breakaway collar with an ID tag on your pet
