If your kitty is missing, they often don't go far. Leave out warm/cold water, post fliers, and put out food after a day or so as hunger might draw them back to the house. Check at dusk or after dark with a flashlight. Look under bushes/decks for eyeshine and movement, calling them softly -have treats ready. Check the area from where they were lost and put out/hang items that smell like you/them so the scent carries. Call into the storm drains as sound echoes. Consider sprinkling litter around the perimeter of your yard. Look in sheds and crawl spaces, especially if you or a neighbor has had work done recently or one has been left open, and under decks. You could try repositioning security cameras if you have any to see if you spot them after dark in the yard. You could also try a humane trap, available on Amazon. Not hard to use - just don’t leave it open and set for hours without checking it, or overnight if not being watched. Post fliers, send pic and info to local vets and animal control, and, if microchipped, make sure info is up to date and they are marked as lost/missing. Look for sites on Facebook or elsewhere to post – county animal control groups often have pages where you can post. ( Lost & Found Pets - Richmond, VA , Lost or Found Pets in Chesterfield, Richmond and all over Virginia , Lost & Found Pets - Richmond, VA ) There's lots of info online. Here’s a very helpful video for lost cats: https://youtu.be/g2eCoC63B9I - Other orgs offer good information for lost, stray or feral cats too. (https://petfbi.org/, https://www.alleycat.org/, https://www.neighborhoodcats.org/, https://alleycatadvocates.org/) Other places to post: Nextdoor.com, Pawboost.com and Ring Neighbors if you have it. I hope they’re home safe soon.

Please try these tips they have definitely helped others. Watch a tip video on youtube about how to find your lost cat, there are several. Post and check on Nextdoor for sightings. Also just heard about this site offering great useful tips so definitely check it out “lostcatfinder.com” Also, your kitty is probably not far away so the sooner the better, put out something of yours or the cats out for scent, putting out the litter box is not recommended as it attracts unwanted critters that could possibly scare your cat off again, use your judgement . SO IMPORTANT…. Look with flashlight early a.m. and/or late at night, calling and shaking food. That part is crucial because those are the quiet hours and your cat would be more prone to coming out of hiding. put up flyers too. If you get any sightings use a trap, sometimes you can borrow from animal control or Amazon has them. I have recently heard some take smelly, oily fish (juice only) (sardines, tuna) and make a “smelly trail” around their house to help with scent. Dont give up too soon , i had one gone for weeks and as i was about to give up, my last night to call her, she was in our yard. Also just heard someone found theirs after 70 days so…… 🙏🏻🙏🏻
