Shared. NOTE TWO DAYS is a long time to a cat so act fast. If you have not already done ALL these things, do them ASAP. you have NO time to waste. Notify Toronto Animal Services and check their website for found cats. Also notify local vet offices, rescues, shelters (e.g. SPCA) and the microchip company if he's chipped. Advise local feral cate feeders who may spot him searching for food. Cats will usually stay near or return to the door they left for a day or two before they wander for food but remember that cats are nocturnal and HIDE daytime. Leave his used litter and some food and water in hidden places near that door. Carefully check all nearby dark, shaded areas under bushes, shrubs and trees and places where he can shelter from wind, cold/heat and rain. Check under decks, in window wells and dark corners of nearby porches, yards, garages, sheds and stairwells where he could be hiding. Thump the hoods and fenders of parked cars in case he or other small animals are hiding in engine compartments and wheel wells. Ask neighbours to do the same and to check sheds, garages and dark corners around their properties. See Pawboost for more suggestions and sample posters. Post notices in a 5 block radius and include building and construction sites. Put a notice in nearby (3-5 block radius) neighbours' mailboxes. Post on FB lost and found dogs and cats site and on community and local store notice boards. Walk around a 5 block area AFTER dark and bring food and treats. Stop periodically, semi hide and put the food beside you not in your hand. Softly call, listen carefully but do NOT make any loud noises or sudden moves.

Here are some tips for finding a lost cat, with 3 links included. Please read the full post, and don't wait. It's important to start the search and action plan immediately. 1. https://www.homeatlastrescue.ca/my-cat-is-missing/ 2. Call out cat's name from one spot using intervals stated below. Calling cat's name consistently from one spot will help kitty locate your home. This method is simple and VERY effective and should be tried from the first night. At nightfall call your cat in a very high and intelligible voice for a full 5 minutes, and try to do this 3 to 4 times per hour, for a minimum of 3 hours in total. At a minimum call your cat 6 times a night, more if you wish. This method helps the cat locate your home, especially if they got spooked, hurt, or disoriented. If the cat is hurt or spooked, they will inch their way forward towards the sound of your voice, so it's important to do this from one location. Repeat this method night after night. It may take days or even weeks, but your cat will hear you and will move closer to your home when they feel safe to do so. 3. Here's a video with helpful tips to find your cat: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=388310901737884&id=374756619256467 4. Here are some other tips that have worked for others: Leave some dirty clothes out for the smell to guide kitty home. Empty the contents of your vacuum cleaner in back yard. Smear wet cat food or tuna close to door from which kitty ran away, also leave water out for him/her. Put up posters with picture as a neighbour could have your cat. Knock on neighbours' doors to ask. Ask them to check under their decks, sheds, in bushes, under cars and in their garages. Ask if you can check yourself. (Do this every night or very early in the morning.) Walk around with a flashlight at night as cat's eyes will reflect the light. Keep shaking the treat bag and listen for faint meowing. Usually they don't go far, are scared, quiet, and hiding within 50 yards from where they were lost. That's about 3 - 4 houses each way. Most cats hide in silence for 2-3 days and come out for water and food when it's very quiet. Usually between 10:00 pm to 5:00 am. This is a good time to be calling out your kitty's name. Repeat the search night after night, as necessary. Check your local SPCA, cat rescues, and social media sites. Go into the shelters as not all cats make the website. It may take several days, to a few weeks to find your cat. What's important is not to give up and get your friends and neighbours involved in the search. Wishing you best of luck and hoping your kitty comes home soon. Please leave a comment when kitty comes home. ❤🐾❤🐾❤

The kitty is probably hiding close to home and scared. Call the kitty’s name softly morning noon and night. Late at night. Rattle a treats bag. Put out his litter box and toys and food and water. Rig up a cat shelter with articles of clothing and blankets that smell like home. Make posters and put them up everywhere with your phone number visibly on the poster. Ask for sightings. Don’t give up.

Good time to search at dusk. Bring flashlight. Check under cars, shrubs, decks and trees, pools & ponds., cool/hot spots to hide. More neighbours you tell more eyes are looking - cat will be 5-6 houses. Will try to return way they escaped- try to leave door, window, shed or garage open. Sprinkle flour around for prints if no snow or mud. Put out worn clothes, shoes & bedding from pet or other pets so pet can smell home. Put up bright neon posters asap high foot traffic areas with Saran Wrap. If you moved check at the previous address.
