Found a good boy wandering my neighborhood. Looks to be a young GSD. He looks pretty young and is extremely playful and loving. Idk if he belongs to someone and maybe got out, but he seems comfortable with people. He isn't neutered but hes very friendly. My husband and I have put him on our balcony with a bed, water, and food as well as a couple of chew toys as he seems to be interested in that. We Didn't want him in this heat and at risk of getting hit by a car and now the temps are dropping again. I cant keep him because I have two already and my apt allows two dogs max and one of mine is dog aggressive. I'd love to have him though. Hes an angel. I have had him scanned for a microchip and he doesnt have one. I have called every shelter I can since Thursday from here to Guilford county including the SPCA. Either no one will answer or no one has any help for me. Every shelter I have spoken to either wont or cant take him, or wont take him because it's outside of the county I reside in. I took him to our local shelter today and people were there but I guess they're technically closed so they wouldn't even come to the door when they saw me standing there. I cannot keep him. I cannot foster him. I already have two dogs and one of them is VERY dog aggressive. I also will get kicked out of my apmt if they know hes here. I have asked neighbors if they know anyone who could take him even if just for a few days. No one will or can. My husband has asked coworkers and a couple seemed interested but no one has followed up or is responding now. I have posted him on next-door (I do not have any social media) and all anyone is saying is thanks for getting him off the street or that they've seen him around. Another shelter told me to rely on community. Community has not been helpful and I do not know many people here. The place I took him to for the microchip scan said to call the police department and see if they could get me in touch with animal services. I cant get anyone on the phone. I even called animal control just to see if they could offer me any advice on where to take him and again, no answer. I understand its a holiday weekend, but I am not a rescue service. I was just trying to do a kind thing. It was so hot outside and he was so thirsty and thin. I am really stressed out about this. My apmt is so small and my dogs cant be near the balcony door or all of the dogs start going nuts. I dont want my neighbors to complain. I have fed him and gave him a place to be safely. Hes been bathed and he has toys and things but hes confused and anxious. I just cant help him. Ive talked to two other GSD rescues and one lady told me the intake coordinator is out of town on vacay and the other said it would be days before being able to take him. My husband is missing work and my other dogs have basically been relegated to one part of my apmt because theres a lot of stress from the pup's presence. No one will help me. I dont know what to do. We have been calling him Rocky. It seems like he may have been with someone before either getting lost or abandoned since he has A LOT of separation anxiety. He cries a lot when left alone or put in the crate. Also, because he's confused he's going through a bonding process with us, when he gets taken away from that and goes into his new environment it's going to freak him out again and the longer he's here the more confusing it'll be for him I feel. And again, i really can't have him here. As much as I would love to keep him. He listens well considering he's just a baby. He learns quickly. He already understands "no", "no chewing", "wait", "go lay down", "come" and "stay" He walks sooooo well on a leash. No pulling at all and always waits for you. Understands that when he goes outside it is so he can potty. He likes to chew. He will chew whatever he can and he is VERY serious. He enjoys ropes and is learning tug of war. He also is very active. Loves playing and running around. Seems like something that helps ease his anxiety a bit. He's been confused and nervous but he is loving and friendly. He's a really good boy. Sweet. Nervous and scared but so sweet. If we could keep him, we would. He will be a wonderful family pet and friend. Does this dog belong to you or anyone you know?
