Vicki.. you really should just leave food and not go out looking. Going out looking, while great intentioned, moves a scared dog and suppresses or reduces sightings and complicates trapping/recovery. I’d ask involved parties to leave the area alone and notify animal services of further sightings so they can work w an experienced trapper. Looking for a skittish dog by foot typically displaces them, prolonging recovery.
