Sherri Karle all I know is Citrus Hgts AC covers a huge area and the dogs go where they have room. They cover parts of Placer and Sac County. Speaking from what I experienced with my dog being able to go a placer shelter when I live in Sac County. The Sr Officer that worked with us also handled parts of Auburn. The shelter staff that was caring for my dog also said they get and had dogs from Sac County. At that time. If you look at their websites some dog bios even say where they were picked up...which is quite a distance away. I understand the policy for stray holds etc...I know this from what I experienced and heard from the staff themselves. The shelters are overwhelmed. They are doing what they can to prevent doubling up dogs. It's sad so yes check all shelters and pounds within a 50 to 100 mile radius...you never know until you physically check.
