Suzan Reynolds that is not really blanket advice. Sometimes scent can be aversive or have no value (like in this case of being newly adopted). It’s a recipe that requires an understanding of a lot of variables and how to put the pieces together based on experience in the field and dog behavior. Just doing those things isn’t enough to give someone guidance on what to do as the calls come in or if the dog shows up.
