Go out every night after 10 PM with a bag of kitty treats and a flashlight. Walk around your yard calling your cat’s name is shaking the kitty treats bag. Use the flashlight to look in the bushes to see if you see your cat hiding indoor cats normally don’t stray more than 5 to 7 houses from their own home. If your cat is chipped, please make sure the registry has your current contact information. File a missing cat report with the Norfolk animal care center. Print flyers with your cats picture and your contact information and take around to your neighbors. A cat will go into a shed or an outbuilding because it seems a safe place once the door gets shut the cat can’t get out. You cannot hear a cat crying to get out of the shed unless you’re standing right next to it Look under decks, porches, and if anyone has a crawlspace under their house open, check that. Ask your neighbors to call you if they see your cat. Check your shelter in Norfolk three times a week to see if your cat has been brought in. If a pet comes in without a collar, they hold them for 10 days and then if they’re not claimed they get put up for adoption.
