🚨 LOST DOG – WHAT TO DO IMMEDIATELY TO HELP BRING YOUR DOG HOME 🚨 If your dog is missing, follow these critical steps right away: 🏠 Bring Them Home with Scent and Access • Hang dirty laundry (T-shirts, socks, shoes) high on a fence or branch to allow the wind to carry the scent—use items worn by the person your dog is most bonded with. • Dogs can smell home from miles away—your scent can guide them back. • Leave an access point open such as a cracked garage or front door in case they return. • Sleep near the front door if possible—your presence may help them feel safe enough to come back. • If you have other pets, keep them secured in a separate room. 📣 Post Signs & Notify Everyone • Make signs with a clear photo and your contact info. • Put signs everywhere—on poles, street corners, and especially on doorsteps in the neighborhood. • Ask neighbors to check security cameras (e.g., Ring) for sightings. 🌐 Spread the Word Online • Post on local: • Lost & Found Facebook groups • Nextdoor • PawBoost • Ring Neighbors app • Include your contact info, dog’s name, and location last seen. 🐶 Microchip & Shelter Alerts • If your dog is microchipped, notify the chip company immediately and mark your pet as lost. • Call ALL nearby animal shelters and rescues, and leave a detailed voicemail if no one answers. Post lost signs all around area lost from & keep checking the shelter daily in person, the shelters are not keeping them long before euthanizing them due to space. If you are able & really want him or her back, offer a reward that will sometimes convince the person that has them who plans on keeping them to do the right thing. I hope you get her back. Shared in hopes he or she is seen & returned.
