I’ve spent the last several days calling shelters and rescues, but everyone has been full. Thankfully, McKamey was finally able to get back to me, and they can take him in on July 30th. In the meantime, he’s already looking so much healthier and has started putting on weight, even since this past Saturday! He’s such a sweet, happy boy. He does resource guard and has been trying to mark everything, so I picked up some belly bands today, along with a leash that matches his collar. As much as I’ve grown attached to him, my goal is to make sure he ends up with the right person or family. I also worry that he may have heartworms, which could require extensive treatment, and he has a broken canine tooth that will need veterinary care. Taking him to a shelter or rescue gives him the best chance of getting the medical attention he needs and finding a safe, loving forever home. Although if a rescue or foster is available, I would appreciate if they got in touch with me sooner. Thank you to everyone who has checked in on him and offered advice and support. ❤️
