Liz Kavadlo Seymour I agree. It takes some phone calls but people aren't often willing to do that. So pets should always have registered microchips and a collar with contact information.

Kathryn Maria I guess so but I do see this often on lost dog posts where someone finds a dog takes it to a vet to check for chip and it’s not registered. Maybe they just don’t try hard enough 🤷‍♀️

Liz Kavadlo Seymour It's possible to find the owners even if a chip isn't registered in the owners name. It takes a few calls, but it's possible. The chip company can tell you the lot number and which company the chip went to, for example, an animal hospital or shelter. The animal hospital or shelter would then be able to tell you which dog had which chip and from there you can track the owners.
