Hi.. My name is Nikki. I am part of a nonprofit organization based in Maryland called Dogs Finding Dogs (we are easily found with a quick google search, and we've also been filmed by NatGeo in a mini-series called Trackers). We started as lost pet trackers but then we evolved into doing consultations for individuals and rescues all over the world. Create a scent station (items with your/your dog’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, toys, etc.). Check it often, especially quiet times (late evening/early morning). This step especially important if in an unfamiliar area! If you have another dog, walk the area with it on a leash. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Post simple signs (large neon poster, large photo, word “lost,” your phone number) in your yard and neighborhood. (Put in plastic sleeve/page protector first.). Contact the microchip company (be sure your contact info is up-to-date). Check the Shelter(s) at least every other day - in person! You know your pet best. Post on NextDoor app as covers your surrounding neighborhoods. When your pet is spotted, do not call or chase him/her! Just sit down on the ground and be very quiet.
