Message from Owner

A company came to pick up our couch in North Auburn and transfer it to the waste management dump in Sacramento off of Fruitridge Rd. and jojo was in the bottom of the couch. When they first came in and first lifted up the couch, our girl black, and white cat jumped out from the bottom of the couch, but once they transferred the couch to the truck, they did not do a thorough check and our huge mancoon cat jojo was inside. The people who had dropped off our couch said they saw an orange cat jump out from the bottom of the couch once they had dropped it off in the landfill at the waste management location in Sacramento. My family and I went there to search around the area yesterday and today and we have not seen him anywhere. The people who work at waste management have checked the video footage and they did see him jump out of the couch, but he’s still nowhere to be seen.

Stacey Lundy I know we are so sad. We just left there there at the waste management off Fruitridge searching for a few hours. We are going to keep looking

Could he have jumped back into the couch? He is hiding as he is probably scared at what just happened to him - but please go back to the location as after a while the cat will venture out. Prayers that your cat is found safely.

After 3 days go back your cats going to be really hungry. Take his stuff with you. Set up an area with his bed and food.

Have neighbors check garages and sheds. Have a tree out back? Check that too. Leave your garage door up a little so they can return home to a familiar place. Place a box outside with blankets or even the clothes you wore today so a cat can pick up the scent and make it home. If you are new to this area, have friends keep an eye out at your former home. And please: CHECK THE LOCAL SHELTERS DAILY I hope your kitty makes it back home safe very soon. Please make sure to get your cat chipped once they return, and PLEASE keep them indoors! PLEASE NEVER LOSE HOPE! LOOK UP! Cats are great climbers and looking for them on the ground only is limiting your search. Male wanderers tend to stay within a territory of about 150 acres, while females stay closer to home, roaming only about 40 acres. This means that your average male cat is likely to stay within 1500 feet of home, while your average female tends not to go much farther than 75 yards from your door. Be careful of the lost pet finders. Most of them are playing on your emotions and wanting cash up front.! https://www.pawboost.com/?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=report_pet_alert_link_lost Sacramento SPCA | (916) 383-7387 Front Street Shelter | 311 or (916) 808-7387 Bradshaw Animal Shelter | 311 or (916) 368-7387 Elk Grove Animal Services | (916) 691-2489 or (916) 714-5115

If chipped, make sure to alert the chip company and confirm contact info. File online lost reports with shelters. Keep checking shelters online and in person. Post on Nextdoor and post flyers in and around area lost. You may have to borrow a trap from the shelter to see if you can trap the cat, but make sure you're able to check frequently. Put something outside with the cat's scent/call name/shake food container. Check in trees around the property and the area where you suspect the cat was lost. How devastaing for you and the cat. A good reminder to people, though, to make sure to verify where your animals are before strangers enter your home, and lock them in a separate room so they can't escape the house.
