Lost Cat Recovery Checklist Immediate Actions ■ Start searching close to where she got out (cats usually hide nearby). ■ Check high & low hiding spots: under cars, porches/decks, shrubs, garages, sheds. ■ Ask neighbors to check open garages/sheds and closed spaces before shutting doors. Best Times to Search ■ Search during quiet/dark hours (best: 12am–7am, especially 1–6am). ■ Use a strong flashlight at night to spot eye reflection. Calling & Approaching ■ Call for her during still hours (overnight/early morning). ■ If you see her: stay calm and quiet (don’t chase). Scent Lures (Safe Options) ■ Put outside: her bed/blanket or your unwashed clothing/bedding. ■ Place scent items near the trap and/or leading toward the door. ■ Do NOT place a litter box outside (can attract predators such as coyotes). Food / Feeding Station ■ Set up a feeding station and feed during the day only. ■ Do NOT leave food out overnight (attracts wildlife & scares cats off). Humane Trap (Highly Recommended) ■ Get a live/humane trap ASAP. ■ Use food only inside the trap (don’t leave food elsewhere). ■ Cover trap with a tarp/blanket for safety and comfort. ■ Check trap frequently—never leave it unattended overnight. ■ In harsh weather: check every 30 minutes. Outreach (Very Important) ■ Post flyers around the neighborhood with phone number (day/night contact). ■ Bring flyers to local vets, shelters (go in person every few days if possible), and pet stores. ■ Tell your mail carrier (they notice roaming pets). ■ Ask known stray feeders/rescuers if they’ve seen her. Mindset ■ Keep checking at different times daily. ■ Don’t give up—cats can be found weeks or months later

Sadly So Many Kitties Go Missing Etc. And I Sometimes Forget To Whom I've Posted So Please Forgive Any Repetition Thank You Mainly : Please SEE That People Keep Checking Sheds Etc. And Err With Caution On The Now Outdated Litter Tray Out Advice. Only Indoor/Safe Air Here But Seems That Many Are Found In Sheds And Garages Etc. So Please SEE That People Keep Checking. As I understand it, as part of their survival technique, lost kitties can go quiet, but hopefully will respond to their human's voice or scent! Thus, aside from assurance it is done, another reason to check sheds etc. etc. one's self. I Hope Baby Is Home Real Soon And Safe Always ❤️ Like many people, in the past I have suggested leaving a kitty's litter or litter tray out when they go missing, however now read that : "If you put out your cat's litter, other cats may see this as a threat to their territory. They may be attracted to the litter box and possibly use it or spray objects around the box. If your cat smells the scent-marks of the resident cats, they may feel too threatened to return home" And That's Without The VERY Occasional, Hungry, Protective, Feeling Cornered Etc. Foxy. I Mention So That Informed Choice Possible. Though More Are Commenting That Leaving Litter Out No Longer A Recommendation 🥀 If kitty has a blanket, could go on line, or any slippers etc. of yours/family members. Calling very late/early when quiet seems to help, if you have a torch shine it on you, look high as well as low. And maybe a phone camera could help with inaccessible places if not too dark. Maybe notify local vets, leaflets and flyers as not all have internet. 'All Crossed'

Kittens don't go far from home. They get very scared. Try going out at night when its quiet with some food or treats. 💜🌟💫💜

I'm so sorry about your kitty. Here are some tips that helped me find my little guy when he got out. My kitty got out in the middle of winter for 11 days. I put flyers out everywhere and some very nice friends of a friend of mine saw my flyers and said he was living under their outside stairs. Flyers work. Also I was told to go out at night when it's quiet and call your kitty calmly. They are scared when outside even if it's your voice they hear so shouting or calling loudly isn't recommended. Also using a flashlight while looking in garages and bushes helps. Cats eyes glow when a light beams on them. Shaking treat bags can help too. Don't do a litterbox that can attract dangerous animals that could hurt Kitty. You can do a piece of dirty laundry of yours that they can be attached too. One more thing also is to get a humane trap from a local shelter and put the smelliest food inside. Believe it or not KFC chicken has helped attract cats more than any food lol. Also cameras can help also to see if your baby comes around when you're not home. I wish you the best of luck and hope. 💜💜💜💜🍀

Call and visit your shelters and pounds. Someone could have picked your baby up. Also they can note that your kitty is missing and if she is turned in they will call you. It also doesn't hurt to call them often just in case.

Ask your local mailman if they've seen your kitty or if they can keep an eye out.

Please follow this advice asap really hope your cat comes home soon safe and sound x Try to search by thinking of your home as centre of a circle and call your cat from the edges. Call, listen carefully, rattle treats etc, then move slowly towards home, stop, repeat, and do this several times until you're home. This could guide your cat back in the right direction. Take a strong torch and check carefully under hedges etc. Door knock with leaflets during the day and check sheds etc, empty buildings yourself as your cat should come to you. ALWAYS CHECK SHEDS, BUSHES, GARDENS, YARDS ETC YOURSELF. Your cat may hide from others.
