Message from Finder

Hi! There's this cat that's been trying to get into my apmt that I think is stuck on a roof next to me. He ate a whole thing of wet food and I think he's unneutered. He's been trying to get in since last night and is very friendly (lets me touch his belly and pet him) and doesn't get scared of my cat when he hisses at him.

FOSTERING FOUND KITTY - consider fostering kitty and helping kitty find a forever home, you said he wasn't fixed - you can make a low cost appt here --> https://www.sfspca.org/veterinary-care/spay-neuter-clinic/ 😻When you rescue a cat from the street, you are often their last hope for survival. Because many cats brought to shelters never leave, fostering them in your home is the greatest gift you can give while searching for their guardian or a new forever home. 😻The Bathroom: The Perfect Starting Point Don’t worry if your bathroom is tiny; cats actually prefer small, contained spaces when they are overwhelmed by a new environment. Keeping kitty in the bathroom ensures they are safe, easy to monitor, and away from the stresses of the rest of the house. 😻Setting Up the "Bedroom" Inside the bathroom, provide a litter box, food, and water. For their bed, a covered hard carrier is the most ideal setup. 😻The Setup: Place a soft blanket inside the carrier and d another blanket over the top, leaving only the front opening clear. 😻The Strategy: By making the carrier the only "hiding spot" in the room, the cat will learn to view it as their safe zone. This makes it much easier to transport them to the vet for a microchip scan or to their new home later on—they’ll already be comfortable inside! 😻Acclimation and Trust: I always keep new rescues in the bathroom for at least a few weeks until they are fully acclimated and ready to explore. Even spending just 30 minutes a day with them makes a world of difference. It helps them feel safe, allows you to get to know their personality, and ensures they are ready for the next chapter of their life. 😻 Thank you for opening your heart and home to a cat in need. You are changing a life that someone else may have failed. ❤️.❤️

Dear Neighbor - Please get him to SFACC - kitty is desperate stuck on roof and now with the rain ...Please lure him with wet food and allow him inside and if you are unable to foster him in your bathroom - please get him inside then place him in a cat carrier (SEE IMAGE BELOW) Be sure to cover the carrier with a towel or blanket or sheet to keep him calm during the drive and surrender him to SF ANimal Care and Control. ❤️ 🙏

Ask people in the building if he's their cat, put up flyers in your building, and in the neighborhood. Pawboost, LostMyKitty offer free flyers for download. He probably lives nearby.

He's probably scared, stuck on the roof, he needs to get off the roof before he gets hurt. Can you go over there and help him, or put him in a carrier? Is the roof on the building next to the building you live in? Please ask people in the next building if they can help get the cat off the roof. He lets you touch his belly, then he may let you put him in a carrier,

If the kitty is stuck, I would think Animal Care and Control would come help rescue him...though they may try to just turn him back loose in the same area, which doesn't seem like the best idea. You could try calling them and asking how they would handle the situation. You could also try to coax him into a carrier and take him to any vet to get scanned for a microchip FOR FREE. That might help ID his guardian. If not, you could take him to Animal Care and Control and tell them he was ABANDONED and they should take him in. If you leave him there, I would definitely call and keep tabs on him (they sometimes euthanize for behavior issues...sounds like he is friendly, but...) You could also try making flyers and putting them around your neighborhood (or going door to door with his pic) to see if anyone owns him or knows his story. In the meantime, providing him with food and water is saving his life. Thank you for helping him!!!
