Chasity Cross 📌 HIT BY A CAR AND INJURED Arizona Humane - foster home - up for adoption: If your dog is hit by a car and injured- if the police come, they take it to the nearest emergency vet (24-hour usually not the regular ones). The pet is considered a stray and treated, then 2-5 days later, Arizona Humane Society picks up the dog, and it’s processed at the Papago location. THEN it goes into a foster home for recovery, which can be 2 weeks to 12 weeks! THEN it goes back to Papago to be processed and goes up for adoption. Many owners lose their pets in this transition. Flyers for awareness do not work in this situation unless somebody happened to be there when your pet was hit or saw it brought into the vet. 👎 Flyers without reward 👎 Posting without reward 👎 Reward ✅ Posting your pic quickly on next door and neighbors by ring first so you can find your pet before ✅ Calling blue pearl, a v e c c and veg the 24-hour emergency vets to see if any pets matching your description have been brought in, 📌 HIT BY A CAR AND ED If your pet is hit and ed, people often call animal control to pick up. They do not pick up dead animals. They send them to the non-emergency police #. Dispatch sends the info to the sanitation dept, and they contact the contractor to pick up the dead animal. They are supposed to check for a chip. I personally do not believe they scan the animals. (Some are not intact, and it would be a lot more work to have to call all those people back.) When they come and pick up the dead animal, they put it in a bag and at the end of the day take all the bodies to the Glendale Az Landfill to dump. This company has the contract for 9 of the major cities in Arizona. So your pet could be missing 45 miles away and still end up in the Glendale Landfill at the end of the day. Flyers for awareness do not work on this group unless someone was there when your pet was hit or saw it brought into the vet. 👎 Flyers without reward 👎 Posting without reward 👎 Reward ✅ Checking neighbors by ring as well as the next door app to see if anyone has posted a deceased pet ✅ Call non-emergency police department number and ask specifically for the dispatch department. Ask them if any calls have come in near your intersection on the date matching your description of your dog. ✅ Posting your pic quickly on next door and neighbors by ring first so you can find your pet before ✅ Calling blue pearl, a v e c c and veg the 24-hour emergency vets to see if any pets matching your description have been brought in.

Chasity Cross 📌 FOUND AND KEPT DOGS We have a VERY high number of pets found and kept in the valley. Especially in certain areas like Phoenix and Glendale. Probably around 50%-70% of found small dogs are kept, and to be honest it's probably way higher than that. It's weird that it happens most in Phoenix and Glendale. :( People like to call it “rescuing” the dog, but really, it’s theft. See, pets are considered personal property, and under Arizona state law, you have to do an owner search for several days before you can keep someone else’s pet, or rehome it. Those of you that find pets and keep them are breaking someone’s heart, destroying families and ruin lives. I’m not being dramatic. I’ve been on the phone with owners having panic attacks, chest pains, crying for over an hour on the phone with me, severely depressed… Some even have to go to the emergency room… because you thought it was if it’s free - it must be for ME. YOU ARE NOT A GOOD PERSON IF YOU FIND AND KEEP SOMEONES PET WITHOUT DOING AN OWNER SEARCH. What happened to being a good person and doing the right thing? Do better. Flyers without a reward absolutely DO NOT work on finder keepers / thieves. Most of the time a flyer WITH a reward won’t work on them either, but if might work on their neighbors. THAT is why you put a reward. 👎Flyers without reward 👎Posting without reward ✅Reward if offered immediately

Chasity Cross Okay I scrolled through 80 posts and don't see theirs. Then I went through all of these on the map and didn't see their post either. Considering the demographics and the common patterns: The Sun City side is mostly 55 and up. The older generation has a lot of integrity. Conscientious pet owners. Try to treat others like they would want to be treated. Tech versus Flyers is pretty split in this community. The younger 55 and up folks use the apps, the 75 and up crowd are more prone to use flyers. Will drive a mile down the street to your flyer to let you know they saw your dog. However going to bed early is also a thing so when dogs are moving around at night they are in the house or in bed not likely to see the pet. The youngtown side has a ton of stray dogs running around. They are on the apps, and up late at night but typically do not respond when people are looking for their pets. Yes I know there are some people in Youngtown that pay attention and will help but a large portion of that City won't. They need a bit more motivation. This is why for the youngtown side I usually recommend posting on neighbors and next door with a reward. That area seems to need a bit more inspiration to do the right thing. I don't think I've ever had an owner lose a pet in youngtown and get it back to be honest. I think it's split between what's free is for me and I could care less. And for this reason if a finder keeper grabbed her they won't give her back.
