If this is an indoor only cat that never goes out, look close. Indoor only cats when lost get scared and hide because it is unknown territory and usually do not come out when you call. Usually are within 3 or 4 houses . Put out something with your scent such as a piece of clothing or blanket. Call at dusk, dawn and night and shake the treats. Get in your neighbour's yards and look under decks, sheds, in trees, bushes or anywhere they can hide. Put up lots of posters. If you are searching at night, use a flashlight as their eyes glow in the dark. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=388310901737884

A good list of things to do is on the Toronto Humane Society website, as well as (Click on the link www.catsinthebag.org itself.) Get signs up (not everyone uses fb, and the more eyes looking the better) and file a lost report with Animal Services and local shelters (and keep checking their listings). Make sure your microchip is registered, and your info is up to date with the company too. And here is some helpful info: https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/ Post on Neighbourhood/community groups, and be sure to also do a post on the fb group ‘Toronto Lost and Found Cats’

I can’t thank Safe Paws Rescue enough for helping me find and rescue my dog. They were professional, caring, and kept me updated throughout the process. If your pet ever goes missing, I highly recommend reaching out to them.

- [ ] The kitty is probably hiding close to home and scared. Call the kitty’s name softly morning noon and night. Late at night. Rattle a treats bag. Put out toys and food and water. Rig up a cat shelter - place articles of clothing and blankets that smell like home in the shelter. Posters work. Make posters and put them up everywhere with your phone number visibly on the poster. Ask for sightings. Don’t give up.

Shared. Note that two days is a long time to a cat , this is longer. If you have not already done all these things, do them now, if you have do them again and go further in your search. Carefully check around your home and property, focusing on small, hidden spots like closets, dresser drawers and hidden nooks and crannies, as cats often hide nearby when scared. Search all nearby shrubs, bushes and trees, window wells, garages and sheds. Ask nearby neighbours to do the same. Alert local vet offices, rescues and shelters. Advise local feral cat feeders who may spot her searching for food. Cats will usually stay near the door they left for a day or two before searching for food. In case she's hiding nearby leave her used littler and some food and water in hidden places near that door NOW and check this evening. See Pawboost for more ways to find and sample posters. Put a notice in nearby neighbours mailboxes, post on local notices boards, in community centres, churches and schools. Go out after dark bring food and treats, search a 5 block radius, stop periodically and softly call but do not make any loud noises or sudden moves. Lost cats are terrified and do not recognize their owner as safe.
