Other tips : Contact: CT Dog Gone Recovery for immediate support and search assistance. Have a recent photo ready. If your dog is missing: 🔍 SEARCH CLOSE FIRST Most dogs that slip out or get loose stay within a few blocks of home. • Bring treats, a leash, and something that smells familiar • Call calmly and gently • Do NOT chase — scared dogs often run farther 🏡 CHECK EVERY POSSIBLE HIDING SPOT Ask neighbors to check: • Garages • Sheds • Under decks • Bushes and porches Also contact: • Local Animal Control • Non-emergency police department • Nearby shelters and veterinary offices ⚠️ Turn off any electric/invisible fence on your property in case your dog is afraid to cross back over it. 📢 GET THE WORD OUT FAST Post in: • Local Facebook groups & town pages • Nextdoor • PawBoost Repost at different times of day for better visibility. 📄 MAKE SIMPLE FLYERS Include: • Large “LOST DOG” headline • Clear recent photo • Phone number in large font • Last seen location 🧠 IMPORTANT TIPS • Search early morning and late evening when it’s quieter • Leave bedding or a worn shirt outside your home-hang high if possible to allow scent to travel further • Keep one person home in case your dog returns on its own • Offer a reward if possible ⚠️ SAFETY REMINDERS • Do not chase • Sit low, stay calm, and use a soft voice • If someone says they found your dog, ask for proof before handing over any reward or information S/N: Cats and dogs often stay close to home. Please spay/neuter and microchip your pets if you haven’t already. There are many hazards and dangers outdoors.

I asked Ai : 🐾 CRITICAL SEARCH TIPS FOR THEO (FIREWORK & THUNDERSTORM UPDATE) Theo went missing on July 4th from the Millwright Condominiums in South Windsor (06074). Between the holiday fireworks and yesterday's thunderstorms, he is likely completely terrified and hiding silently. Because he is a young puppy in extreme fear, please use these specific tactics right now: ## 1. Focus on "Tight Hiding Spots" (Don't just look, look UNDER) A terrified puppy will squeeze into impossibly small spaces to feel safe from loud noises. He is likely still very close to the complex but completely frozen. Thoroughly check: • Under condo decks, porches, and stairs. • Behind HVAC/air conditioning units and trash enclosures. • Inside open garages, under parked cars, or inside wheel wells. • Deep inside thick landscaping, window wells, or low-hanging bushes. ## 2. Keep Searches Silent and Low to the Ground • Do Not Shout: Do not have large groups of people calling his name loudly. To a terrified puppy, loud shouting sounds like more scary noise, which will make him hunker down deeper. • The Calm Approach: Walk quietly during the calmest hours (late at night or early morning). Crouch down to his eye level, shake a treat bag gently, and speak in a soft, comforting, familiar tone. Stop frequently and listen closely for faint whimpering. ## 3. Scent Stations (No Food) • Place Familiar Scents: Put his crate, a bed, or the owner's unwashed clothing (like a worn t-shirt) right outside the door. The familiar scent can help guide him back if he ventures out when the environment quietdowns. • ⚠️ WARNING: Do not put food or treats outside the door. It will not entice a terrified puppy out of hiding, but it will attract stray animals or wildlife that will scare him even further away. ## 4. Check Ring and Security Cameras • Ask all neighbors in the Millwright complex to check their security and doorbell camera footage starting from July 4th. Look for any movement during the quietest hours of the night when he might have finally crept out of his hiding spot to find water.
