Set up a feeding station of some kind with a piece of owners unwashed clothing. You want him sticking around for food. Can someone loan yiu a trail cam. Is there a cat colony nearby where they feed? Also go out right after dark with a flashlight and check wherever he could hide nearby. Ask neighbors if you can look under porchez sheds in garages. Shine for eyes. Keep calm call softly shake treats.
