Joe Donnelly you might be 100 correct, he is not chipped, the SPCA has no space until Saturday. So I am paying to get it, fixed and checked for rabies shots etc. how about you? 🖤 Meet Shadow Sometimes life surprises us. For two days, this beautiful young dog wandered the streets alone until a kind neighbor finally brought him home and called me one Saturday morning asking, "You love animals... what should we do?" That simple question changed everything. At first glance, Shadow appears to be a stunning Black Labrador, Staffordshire Terrier, and Mastiff mix. He is a healthy young dog with many wonderful years ahead of him. His glossy jet-black coat, bright curious eyes, and gentle spirit make him impossible to forget. When we found him, Shadow had no collar, no microchip, and had not yet been neutered. We are taking care of all of that because every dog deserves the very best chance at a wonderful life. Since then, Shadow has shown me exactly who he is. He isn't looking for a backyard. He's looking for a family. Today, while we were at the shelter making arrangements for his veterinary care, Shadow became anxious. His breathing became very heavy, and for a moment I worried that something was wrong. I was busy speaking with the Assistant Director about his future and wasn't even looking at him. Without thinking, I simply continued gently stroking the top of his head while we talked. Within moments, his breathing slowed, his body relaxed, and he quietly settled. That was the moment I realized something. Shadow doesn't just need food. He doesn't just need a yard. He needs someone who understands that dogs have hearts. Someone who knows that sometimes the greatest gift you can give a dog isn't another command... ...it's your calm presence, a gentle hand, and the quiet reassurance that they are safe. Shadow is still learning. He hasn't had the opportunity to learn many commands yet, but he watches people carefully, responds beautifully to kindness, and seems eager to learn. Over the years I have helped place several rescued dogs into loving homes. I have also experienced the heartbreak of seeing a few abandoned or returned. Because of that, I am in no hurry. My only goal is to find the right home. Not the quickest home. Not the easiest home. The right one. A family who will welcome him as another member of the household. People who will greet him with excitement when they come home. Who will scratch behind his ears just because. Who will bring him a little toy or an occasional treat simply to see his tail wag. People who understand that love is often shown in ordinary moments—a gentle touch, a quiet conversation, a walk together, a shady place beneath a tree... Perhaps Shadow has already found you.

Well Cima Richardson you really have cared so nicely for this precious foundling. What a time you have had contacting and making arrangements in hopes of getting this dog settled. A wise Vet could suggest what to do about the dog's meals . I am amazed thst you are so caring, as so many people are not. I have been with a Great Pyrenees Rescue for 33 yrs. So .any sad but also happy stories. Thank you again dear dog friend and the best to you and the Pup!

by the way, thank you for caring, breaks my heart, anyone who’s a solid guy- this is a macho man’s dog and an ideal companion. If you just rub his back just a little bit, his panting stops his stress releases I’m still looking for a good home for him he’s back with me today and I’ve already fed him several times in the last two hours, hopefully he’ll get over going through not wanting to eat and then eating like a horse. Tomorrow he’s going to go away for three days to get his shots and a check up, etc. hopefully he’ll be back Monday evening or Tuesday and then we’ll start a hunt for his new home. I already have three dogs and I really do not need an extra dog he weighs about the same as me so it’s sometimes difficult to navigate. I don’t like dogs or any animal being on leashes, but for his own safety, I have to put him on a leash because if he wants to even one of my cats, I would have to take him to the pound and I don’t want to do that. I’d rather find him a home where he’s loved so guys anyone out there help me find a good friend or relative who can rehome him? I’m having him neutered, get a rabies shot and chipped for his future parents.

Mitzie Vincentz so here’s what I did. I took the dog to the SPCA in Bakersfield to see if it was chipped. It was not this dog can eat half a bag of dog food in a day. This dog is as healthy as a Ox. In fact, I think in the last three days since we found him roaming the streets for two days, he’s lost a few pounds because there’s no way we can keep up with him eating our pets food budget and if he’s sad like when I have him in the neighbors yard, he doesn’t eat only when he’s happy and when others are around, does he eat. I’ve seen dogs who don’t eat in front of people and when you turn your back, they chow down their grub. Not this dog, he loves company. He wants to eat when you’re watching him. He’s not chipped. There’s no information on how he was surviving cause there’s no way he’s a street dog as I said he’s got a mastiff head, maybe just slightly less in size, than my earlier mastiff. Who lived for five more years and then passed on. Mastiff head, lab fur and then when we did AI scan on him it said StrafirShire or something like that. Fast forward: When we took him in to SPCA, they had no place today at the pound one of our relatives lives in Rosedale so we thought we WILL CALL the county SPCA and their one place did not have any openings. In fact they had refused to take anyone for the next several months and then the other one said, we’d have to bring the family members drivers license and the family member with us, and there was no way all of us could get together at the same time on a weekday so we said what’s the solution and the city said we can set up an appointment but the only time we can set up an appointment is on the coming Saturday to take him in. so please guys whosoever live in Bakersfield or Fresno surrounding areas. Help the SPCA on Brundage on Mount Vernon and Save some dogs to make space, not just for this dog, but for the other dogs that are being refused. They will keep him give him shots. Whatever is needed. I’ll pay for it. Maybe my neighbor and I will share and then I’ll foster him and the city will provide the food for fostering. I didn’t ask them, but they might give a doggy home because I cannot have him with the other dogs in the backyard so he has to be in the front with my cats and hens - I’m still keeping him on a leash just because he’s so big that it’s hard for even my neighbor who’s about 200 pounds to control him

Lucky Lilly but kindnesses in yours like mine and yours and all the other good people who responded does not make a difference. I’m in Bakersfield. I don’t know how I got fresno but the problem is he is as strong as a ox with me. He’s like a docile puppy, but he’s been staying at the neighs office for the past three days and while they are being very kind to allow me to use the empty office to keep him when he’s there in their place. He literally hears my voice two houses down and he tears everything in his pathway to get to me a homeless person I didn’t know was sleeping in my alley entrance and took drugs and the Mattress caught fire burnt my entire fence down thank God the metal one is still propped up, but he burned my wood fence and this dog when I was screaming at one of their accomplices while I was 911 call this dog Thor everything in his pathway to just come and sit in front of my yard guarding me did not bark did not say a word. He just told every single thing in his pathway to reach me, but I have three dogs and yesterday I brought him over and the friend who is keeping him came with food we both tested him to see how my dogs would react my pitbull who I barely hear him bark took noises out of his throat that I’ve never heard before both a male and so is my Husky my little Papillon/Pomeranian has learned to coexist with him, bosses him touches him, and then sits a little bit further away from him, but they have learned to except each each other the black lab accepted him from day one tailwagging and everything but there we are excuse the typos today I have to make a decision to take him to the local SPCA who are overflowing. The one on Gibson in Bakersfield has already stopped taking any dogs. They are so full.
