Message from Finder

The WORST pic ever, sorry, was from inside and through a screen. Seemed very sweet but I think my cat ran him off. If the cat is part of your family I can try to get cat in carrier or in my basement 🩶

Yeah hope you are able to use the chip scanner. There are so many lost black cats it's pretty hard to identify mine, she has a white patch between her hind legs. I'm just hoping someone finds her and the chip leads her back to me.

First it is suggested that you crack your windows open as the one thing an indoor cat knows is the smell of their house. Second, when an indoor cat gets out they are usually very close to their home - usually a couple of hundred feet. They will find some place to hunker down and stay there until they are hungry or thirsty. They will come out in the middle of the night (not at dawn or dusk when predators may be around). Do not leave lights on as cat may feel more secure venturing out when it is darker. It is also suggested if it is safe to do so to leave door that tge cat got out of cracked opened with a bowl of water and bowl of smelly food like tuna inside door with camera on the door that will alert you when there is any movement. Put out an article of your unwashed clothing and bedding- they can recognize the scent and it may help them find their way home. Indoor cats do not travel far they may be hiding nearby- check under porches, bushes and even under a parked car. If you call her/him, call gently- do look while it's dark and quiet- - Put flyers with photo and decent reward in your local Stewarts; post on Steve Caparizzo's FB page and your neighborhood Nextdoor app as well as Pawboost asap! Notify your neighbors!! Let the animal shelter and the own animal control officer know as well. Post a flyer with the cat's picture and a reward in local Stewart's etc. If someone has picked them up, seeing the flyer with a reward may motivate them to return the kitty to you. All that helped me get my boy back. I will pray for your cat’s safe return real soon! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Thank you for helping! I used to admin several lost and found pet pages and these are suggested tips for a found cat: Please contact animal control and local vets in case owner called them looking. They’ll also scan free for a microchip if you can bring cat in. You may want to post signs for those not on social media. If the cat has a collar without a tag, pls check the inside of the collar as some now have the contact info stamped or printed on the inside. Some have it on the buckle. If female, pls check stomach for /nursing mom and check area for kittens. Be very cautious of those claiming to be owners; ask for proof and/or vet records. There are many people who have ill intentions towards animals especially cats. If you are unable to do any of the above, PLEASE don’t just give the cat to anyone but a reputable rescue who will do their due diligence to find owner or screen potential adopters to find a loving home. Note...if you’re considering finding a new home for this cat...in most states by law, you have to give owners a chance to come forward before rehoming any pet.

Beautiful cat. If you can take the kitty to be scanned for a microchip hopefully the kitty is registered. Thank you for being there.
