- If kitty is an indoor cat it will typically stay within a 3 to 5 house radius of her home. - Indoor/outdoor cats can be up to 15+ houses away. - Kitty will hide during the day and only come out after dark between dusk and dawn. - Kitty may not come when called. - The majority of cats return home between 2 and 4 AM. - Leave your garage and porch doors open or leave a window open so that kitty can climb through. - Using your not yet washed clothes and sheets, make a scent trail in your yard and on your porch with the laundry. Hang items over bushes, low tree branches, car hood, and on porch railing. Let trail lead to your front door, open garage or open window. - Around 10 pm put rotisserie chicken outside (warm it first so that the scent really carries in the night breeze). - Throughout the night get up and go outside. Walk the 3 to 5 house radius and call softly, listen carefully. - Look both high and low. Kitty could be stuck up in a tree or locked in a neighbor's garage. - A lady reported finding her cat recently. She set her alarm for 2 am, opened her front door, turned on her TV on low, placed an open can of cat food in the house near the door. Kitty came walking into the house. - One man set his alarm and got up every hour and another slept on the couch and heard the cat scratching at the door. - Another tip is to warm chicken stock and makes a trail of it from the street or yard up to the house. Even pour it in the bushes and trees where the wind could carry the smell. - Other people have used catnip to help lure their cat home. - Use a flashlight to look for your cat’s eyes at night. - You will lose sleep, but this has worked Good luck and don’t give up!

Check house thoroughly. Check up in trees. Check animal control in person and report as missing and take photos with you. Post flyers in Spanish and English around your neighborhood. Look for him/her after dark as cats are most active between midnight and 6:00 a.m. However, go outside anytime after dark, using a flashlight look for "eyes glowing" under and inside of any outbuildings on your property and surrounding properties as well. Look under your home's crawlspace, porches, decks, bushes, trees and nearby woods. Look inside of storm drains and driveway culverts. A lot of cats are found hiding in them. Call kitty's name (softly) listening for a response. If your kitty gets treats, shake a treat bag while calling his name. If all else fails borrow a pet safe humane kitty trap from a local animal rescue group or buy your own at Tractor Supply and try trapping him. These are often very effective. To bait the trap: place a dirty clothing item of owners inside along with water and tuna or sardines. *COVER the trap with dark colored towels or a tarp to keep it dark inside so kitty will enter. *Note: if you do trap your kitty, DO NOT OPEN the trap outside to release him or kitty might bolt. CARRY your trapped kitty indoors (inside of the trap) and release him in the safety of your home. Place a night camera on your yard to see if kitty is showing up after dark. A trail cam is an excellent idea. Also, place a camera on the trap if possible synced to your cell phone so you will know when kitty gets trapped. Check with neighbors close by and animal shelter daily. Also, ask your mail carrier to be on the lookout for your kitty. Hopefully, you can locate kitty shortly on your own. Elizabeth Richey thank you Elizabeth. He recently escaped for the first time two weeks ago- I found him at 2:30 AM. Was hoping it would be the first and last time ☹️ I appreciate your advice, that is a pattern I may not have noticed on my own accord
