Message from Owner

Ash escaped through the front door between 8:28 and 8:34 on 4/29/2026. He is a stray the I brought in as a teensie kitten. His littermate and parents are feral near by at Ewing and Driftwood. I'm hoping this draws him back. He's a healthy boy. You can tell he eats well. He has 3 little girls and furry friends that are very worried. Please if you see him do not chase but if he will come in with you let him. I will come get him! He has not been outside since I found him in a ditch September 21st at 230am. He has no collar. He is not declawed or fixed. Very sweet boy. Please text me

Hey guys just an update! I AM AN IDIOT. His littermates and parents love less than a half mile from me. All outdoors and practically feral as he was when I found him at maybe 5 weeks old. So I saw his "twin" who has never actually visited my house let alone be as close to the front porch and driveway as the doppelganger was. I put out food. I spoke to neighbors. I made this post, other posts, reached out to my contacts with YW. Around 11 I finally went into my bedroom. The doors were shut to keep a dog out of some of the kitty food for a bit. Little booger was laying on the floor near my bed waiting for me. It was his sibling I saw running off thinking he slipped out. 😅

Try posting on the local Nextdoor app (if possible), lost. petcolove. org and watching Craigslist.🤞 Also try putting out unwashed laundry and some stinky shoes at the last place seen with you nearby and hopefully your pet will smell it's way back to you. DO NOT PUT YOUR PET'S BEDDING OR LITTER BOX OUT because it can attract predators where your scent will scare predators off but still attract your pet. If it comes down to it, try renting or borrowing a trap from the shelter... Put something in the trap that your kitty cannot refuse. Putting up cameras may help too. BEWARE of scammers saying they found your pet and want you to email them or send them a code. They will also tell you to text or connect through Instagram to a certain group that helped them find their pet. DON'T do it! It's a scam. Also, be wary of calls from shelters. There is a scam, copying shelter's phone numbers and saying that your animal is there and needs emergency treatment and to send money.

Go out early morning or after dark and quietly call your cat....chances are you cat is scared and hiding....take a flashlight ...if your cat doesn't come to you, shine it around to see if it catches it's eyes...under bushes and in the trees. Put a BIG, COLORFUL sign at the last place seen so people know where your cat belongs if they spot him or her…ask your neighbors to check sheds, crawl spaces and garages. Go to your local shelters every day or 2 to look for yourself…please don't depend on a phone call. The person you speak to may not be aware that your pet might have been turned in. If possible, leave your door or window open a crack while you're home.

Be sure to GO to your LOCAL SHELTERS with a photo and report your pet lost (your pet may have been taken to a shelter that is not the closest one to you). They have a board for both lost and found pets. Many finders take pets they find to them. Remember, NOT EVERYONE is on Social Media. There's some excellent advice on Missing Animal Response Network on Facebook as well as their website. Additional advice can be found on the website under the drop down menu labeled lost pet help.

Give flyers to the local vet offices and mail carriers too!! Missing Animal Response Network has excellent advice on what to do when your pet goes missing. The section about NEON signs is a must but all of the tips will also help you in your efforts to find your pet. Try putting a large lost sign at the last place seen (someone else may have seen something). Also check on Craigslist under pets lost/found.

I am so sorry about your Kitty being lost. Put the Owner's worn clothes outside all around the house or where the kitty was lost. Kitties don't go far, but they do hide a lot. When it is quiet and darker, go out and shake her food bowl and treat bag and hopefully she will hear it and come out. Take a flashlight out at night. Kitty’s eyes will reflect and make the kitty easier to see. Talk quietly to her like you would if she was inside - yelling can scare them, though this is what we want to do because we want them HOME!! Knock on doors. Someone may have taken your Kitty in so she/he doesn't get hurt. Also ck with your Neighbors and ck their storage areas, sheds, etc. I know of a Kitty who was found in a storage room that had only been open for 5 mins. Put out flyers everywhere - stores, intersections, etc., and put the info on your car windows so that it gets the info out to more people. Use multiple actions to find your Pet...using only one may limit your success in getting your Kitty Home. Look inside over and over. Shake treats. Open food cans if you use canned food. - Any sound that the Kitty may come to. They are very good at hiding so she may have never left the house. Check with delivery people (mail, Amazon, Fed Ex, UPS, etc.) to see if they have seen your Pet. I'll be Praying for the Kitty to be found soon! Also, open the door he escaped from and leave open as long as possible. He will try to come back in that same way. This link has some really helpful info as well: https://www.facebook.com/MissingAnimalResponse/ Do be careful of scammers. Some people call or text and say they have your Pet just to get money. Pitiful!!
