If you don't find him today. Go look at sunset and sunrise. Those are usually the quietest and calmest part of the day. Most dogs go into flight mode when scared and will hide even from their owners while there are other noises and people around. Quietly call their name and hold out their favorite treat. If you see them do not run towards them, instead sit and try to coax them to you. Have a leash with a loop made on the end ready to slip over their head as soon as they are in reach.
