Is your cat microchipped or fixed? FINDING YOUR LOST CAT * check thoroughly inside the house, garage, and your yard. Check your cameras if you have them. 90% of cats are found within a block of home. Most within five houses of home * Walk, do not drive, while searching for your cat * Print flyers with a picture and phone number. * Ask Neighbors. Give them a flyer. * Ask neighbors to check their cameras and garages and storage sheds where kitties could be hiding. Or ask if you can check. *Put out some clothing with your scent and/or the cat’s bedding. * DO NOT put out kitty litter. It attracts the wrong kind of critters. * Set a trap * Put a flyer in your rear car windows and keep flyers in the car to hand out or post. * DO NOT call for your cat or shake food/treats unless you are at home or see/hear your cat. * Go out at night with a flashlight and look up in the trees and bushes. Cats eyes reflect light. * Don't call the name of your cat. Be calm. Just talk in a normal tone of voice. Cats can pick up on your anxiety and think it's not safe to come out. * Go to the shelter twice a week to visibly look for your cat. Don’t rely on shelter workers. * Check out any cat that could be yours no matter the distance or city. * Post on Nextdoor Neighbor App, Social Media, Craigslist. Pawboost can be used without paying by skipping that part. It will still post it. * Post your phone number. Don’t rely on Facebook messaging/postings which may go unseen by you. * Renew your Craigslist Ad or Social Media posts every 48 hours. * Posted flyers should be on bright colored paper in plastic sleeves. * Offer a Reward!! * If possible post a big neon sign in your front yard and at well traveled roads and intersections. Especially in your neighborhood * Show a flyer with pictures to neighbors out walking and to the mail person who is all over that area. * Check with local veterinarians in case somebody took the kitty injured or sick, maybe the vets will recognize and scan the kitty Tips taken from Robin Jones, creator of Lost and Found CATS - Austin, TX & surrounding areas—Facebook page.
