šŸ“¢ Urgent: Advice Needed for Neighborhood Cats 🐾 Hi everyone, I’m reaching out to see if anyone in the community has experience with local rescues or cat trapping. There is a group of about 6 or 7 stray cats living near my street. A kind neighbor puts food out for them, but they are essentially living on their own. I’ve noticed that at least two of the females are now heavily pregnant. I am very concerned because they are hanging out in a nearby backyard that isn’t well-maintained and could be very dangerous for newborn kittens. I want to get these moms-to-be into a safe environment before they give birth, but I don't have the equipment or experience to catch them myself. I really want to prevent a situation where these kittens are born into a dangerous environment. If you have any advice, know of a rescue that isn't full, or have a humane trap and can help me get them to safety, please let me know!

Rachael Medforth they are very well looked after and yes if needed are taken to vets. It would be wrong of you or anyone else to just assume anything without finding out the facts first and taking these cats away from the people who care for them although it may not be to the high standards we deem acceptable. Like we said education is needed for some if there is some leaflets or something that can be distributed in various languages then maybe that would help them to understand the concerns for these cats and enable them to provide better care for them.

Rachael MedforthWe've had cats here for years the first one was an outdoor cat only came in when it was freezing. The cat we have now is outdoors the majority of the time. You can't keep him in he goes mad to go out. Cats are more resilient than you think. They have thick winter coats. If we are right although it's hard to tell from pictures and the road is a very long one the cats are healthy looking with good coats but as I said the owners of the shops they are connected to may benefit from some education on how to make their lives better. Sometimes people of different nationalities don't know the laws here re chipping etc. Rescues are over run at the moment and probably couldn't take them anyway.

Lynne Sheridan I bet those shelters are poor though and not insulated so they will be absolutely freezing in the winter months. NO cat should be living outside. Are these shop owners foreigners? Because a lot of them come from countries with NO animal welfare and cats and dogs living and suffering out on the streets and thats not what we want here. Even educating them doesn't work most of the time because they dont care enough. That is going to end up a massive colony of cats in time and I bet no-one gets them poor babies to a vet when needed because they won't want to spend any money on them. They need taking away from them by a rescue they are not responsible enough to own animals because just providing food and shelter is NOT enough 😢

Rachael Medforth they have shelter provided by the shops and are fed by them but like Anne said they could do with some education.

Anne Sheridan no outdoor cats are healthy trust me. They obviously are not being chipped, neutered, wormed, flead so thats not caring for them thats cruelty. NO cat should be living on the streets its no life for them especially in the winter months

Lynne Sheridanyes they are most likely, although the owners could benefit from some educating on neutering, flea prevention etc. They are generally healthy outdoor cats.
