I’d get out with flashlights immediately, calling out to him loudly. Take his food and rattle in his dish if it’s a dry food. Don’t stop looking. My dog ran off into the dark, chasing a rabbit. I ended up driving the neighborhood, windows down, calling his name out. I found him the next street over, trotting down the sidewalk. Also, kids catch cute dogs and take them home. Some parents don’t bother to find rightful owners. Knock on doors as soon as you rise in the morning. Hang flyers on doorknobs with rubber bands. Contact local shelters in person. Check daily.
